Please post the link from where you downloaded Firefox from?

I do not believe that you got Babylon "on the back of Firefox".

    I downloaded from here,

    http://mozilla-firefox.todownload.com/?gclid=CKSQ0-rv-LECFcENfAodCWIA9A

As soon as the download finished the babylon search thingy showed and Google had been replaced as my default search engine. I changed it back to Google and a short while later Babylon just came back again. I could not delete it as the uninstall was greyed out.

For a non techie, which is all I am, the fact that Babylon installed itself at the exact same time Firefox did suggested they were connected. If however the experts are saying this was a mere coincidence then I apologise to Firefox, but that is exactly how it looked.

There will be websites that tell you how "dangerous" it is, whilst advising you to install there own brand of junkware to get rid of it.

Luckily my first port of call if I do anything other than routine maintenance or straight forward removals is here. I believe I get the best impartial advice .

Thanks for posting the link, which explains why you downloaded Firefox plus extras.

It wasn't a coincidence, you did not download Firefox from the official Mozilla site here you actually downloaded it from www.todownload.com which states:
"Mozilla Firefox 14.0.1 - The download will be managed by toDownload Manager, a tiny ad-supported "download manager" and installer"

"When you run the download manager, you accept the terms of use and the privacy policy of our website and that you know about the download manager and it’s EULA. During the download process we may show commercial offers, such as toolbars"
Stick to the official sites for software downloads and you will avoid the unwanted extras.

Trouble is, even some of those mirror the downloads off-site.

I have come across 20 programs at least (inc. 2 free A/V progs.) that offer Babylon Toolbar. It really is a menace.
I have it installed in IE but luckily I don't use IE that much.

Babylon is nasty, I got it on the back of Firefox and everytime I thought I had lost it, it came back again.

I've currently got my own thread running and am getting some really helpful advice about sorting it. Good luck.

    Thanks Linbox.

My mother in law told me about this on her PC and if my memory serves me right I thought I had removed it via add/remove programs. A few week later and Babylon is still there and she's also got a funny screen which appears as soon as she logs on so its there from her log in screen and when she actually logs on. It distorts the screen so its hard to actually use the laptop. The funny thing is I did a print screen to capture it and it doesn't show so Im wondering if its related to this Babylon thingy. The link below is a photo of the screen.

Has anyone had the same issue as wondering if its related?

Cant see what it is - some kind of pop up.

You deleted the two folders I posted about?

Run CCleaner and Malware bytes, you may want to do these from safe mode - press F8 at the boot screen (very start of the computer booting process, as windows starts.
