Sense of (toilet) humour failure

Hi Pinkshoes - can't advise myself I'm afraid, but there may be a knowledgable bod over on the "In My Home/DIY" board??
Or (after a quick google - as you seem desperate) how about this http://www.bhl.co.uk/product/MULTIKWIK_SIZE_3_PAN_SPIGOT_PSWD_MK3
I think we are fortunate to live in the modern world where really obscure stuff can often, I'll admit not always, be easily obtained with a google search and a quick online purchase.0 -
You ripped out the old toilet without checking the measurements of the new one? :rotfl:Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670

Thanks for all the replies!
The botch silicon job is holding for now, so at least I still have a usable toilet, although still need a permanent solution.
The company replied to my email and have offered to pick it up and give me a full refund, but then that leaves us with no toilet, so not an option. I will phone them tomorrow and tell them I just want a pipe that fits! We need a toilet with a narrow cylinder, so can't just go out and buy any old toilet and fit it!
The pipe/connector we've got is the Multikwik one in the links someone posted, which although is supposed to fit 114mm, it just fires straight off!Did the listing not have all measurements?
The onus was upto you to check it would fit I'm afraid.
The listing had all the usual dimensions (heights, widths, lengths etc...).
No one lists a spigot diameter, as ALL modern toilets are a standard fit between 90mm and 100mm. 114mm is a very old fashioned size, not used any more (as waste pipes have been reduced in size), hence it's just really odd to buy a new modern toilet that doesn't have a standard size spigot!Abbafan1972 wrote: »You ripped out the old toilet without checking the measurements of the new one? :rotfl:
Yup! But then who on earth supplies toilets with a 114mm outlet?!?
It would be like buying a new car and finding that instead of coming with an ignition key, you have to start it by turning a crank at the front, yet was not stated on the advert. An ignition key of some sort is taken for granted when buying a car!
Someone has suggested I try a McAlpine connector, as they're much better. Will give it a go!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

It's not faulty, and I haven't said it is - it works just fine.
It's just not fit for purpose if you can't get a pipe to fit the outlet!
They know it has been used as I explained to them my efforts to botch the fitting as a temporary solution.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

I'm just wondering... I believe our American cousins still use imperial measurements. If so, could this toilet be an American import/design? (114mm is very close to 4.5"). Has the seller said they have a pipe to fit? If not, I'm wondering if that's why they've offered to refund....? Cynical, me, noooo!!:)0

Ahh, that would make sense! Although the instructions to assemble the cistern were clearly translated from another language, so perhaps it's Chinese???
They said they don't sell any pipes, so I've asked them to contact their supplier/manufacturer to see what they recommend.
Frustrating, as the toilet fits into the gap perfectly and works really well. I just need to find the correct pipe to connect it so I can put my bathroom back together! I'm pretty sure the botch job will leak at some point, so not a permanent solution. Sigh.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
