Newbie looking for advice

Hey there.

I've got a month or two left on my contract with T-Mobile and I was thinking of contacting them and seeing if I can get a better phone/deal out of them.

At the moment I have a samsung D600 and and I pay about 20 quid a month for 100 minutes and 25 text.. Now Ill be honest. I rarely even use all the minutes or the txt. So I guess I'm happy with that (although more is always better I guess.. Just in case) Now I'm happy with the phone I have.. But I guess I would like a better phone out of them if I could get one. Maybe sell the new or old one off depended on what I like more.

The thing is I have no idea where to start. But I don't know much about them and would like some help.

I rang t-mobile today and they offered me a K800! and 10% off my current contract for another 12 months. Does that sounds like a good deal?

Or could I get something better? Anyone dealt with T-mobile before?

Any help here would be great guys.

Cheers.

Despin out.

If you shop around there are deals with cashback that work out better than what they are offering you, you can get a free k800i £35 per month line rental but 7 of those months are free via cashback which means you will be paying £14.58 per month, you also get 300mins and 400txts a month free so its a lot more than your getting. If you ring them up and see if they can match it, if not then you can ask for your PAC Code which might make them come back with a better offer.
  • Hey there.

Well I just rang T-Mobile and mentioned the kind of deal Jay mentioned above and if he could match it... After about ten minutes of him telling me how dodgy cashback deal are and how even the "THE BBC IS AGAINST THEM" he would only offer me more minutes and texts for the same price or the phone plus 10% off the current relax 20 deal I'm on...

So he was offering me the K800! 100 minutes and 25 texts to for about 16-17 quid.

I tried and tried. Asked if there was absolutely anything he could do. Still nothing. Mentioned that I would have liked to have stayed with them but the hassle of changing is worth the extras from elsewhere still nothing (but beware cashback) and finally that it looks like I'm going to need my PAC code off him... Still nothing... He said he would need 29 quid off me for the pac code and that he could do it for me there and then...

At that point I bottled it and said I would call back tomorrow...

So what do you guys think?

I'll be honest. for those extra minutes and text that I wont really use and for the saving of a quid or 2 a months on the contract I actually DONT think it's worth changing contract.. Not to mention then having to deal with THE EVIL CASH BACK system..

So I dont know.. Unless anyone knows any magical tips to get them to offer me a better deal I might go with what they offered.

One last thing.. If I was to mention I would stay at the price I'm paying now..(essentially instead of the 10% off) is there anything else I could get from them instead?

Likw I say.. Im not too sure what Im doing here.

Any advice like would be great.

    Cheers.

It sounds like your contract has about a month and a half left to run judging by the price for the PAC code, you may just have got a customer service employee who is having a bad day, nearing the end of your contract usually bring better offers, if you are worried about cashback then 3 mobile have an offer on where it is £15 per month for life whicg gives 500 mins fre per month, the k800i is not on offer for that but there is a k610i which is quite a nice phone and that is not a cashback offer.
  • K800i would sell on ebay for at least 120 quid, more if it is brand new and unused.

    check this one: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/new-sony-ericsson-k800i-unlocked-sealed-1GB-msm-m2_W0QQitemZ180100769449QQcategoryZ3312QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Sell it and keep your old phone that you like and Hey presto your contract becomes a fiver a month or even less.

    You know it makes sense.
