Hello,
I'm due to go to nyc in September however today I broke my foot and would like to move the flights.... However the flights I got were no changes allowed. I've not phoned BA yet but what do you reckon my chances are? Thanks

Well, what did BA say when you phoned them?
I don't rate your chances if it says non-changeable.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Give it a try. From personal experience, I can say that BA can be surprisingly good with unexpected hiccups. They MAY offer you something. Be prepared to make some concessions though.
It should go without saying, but it will help if you are courteous to the telephone agent and ask for their help in this situation.
Alternatively, do you have travel insurance (even attached to a bank account or credit card) that will cover this sort of situation?0 -

Pretty slim. 'Non-changeable' doesn't mean 'non-changeable, unless something unforeseen happens and the passenger wants to make a change'. Still, nothing is lost by trying, aside from the cost of the phone call and the time spent.0 -
Thanks all. I can't believe this has happened before my hols! I got BA travel insurance... I'm reading through different medical sites and it says not recommended to fly with a broken bone, especially long haul. Though there are lots who do fly - skiers for example. I suppose it's one thing making it home with a broken leg but I won't appreciate the holiday with my leg strapped up. I'll give them a ring.0

Well if you have BA travel insurance, that should hopefully cover this mishap. New York on a broken foot is not going to be much fun ...
The issue about flying with broken limbs is, I believe, that swelling may occur inside the cast at altitude (due to lower pressure inside the plane).
Good luck talking to BA.0 -
Sorry, I missed the 'not' in not phoned.
You could claim on your travel insurance if nothing happens.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

How did you get on with BA? Your best bet would probably be to give the trip and miss, claim on your insurance to get your money back and rebook for when your leg will hopefully be better when you can truly enjoy yourself! As other have said New York on a broken foot wouldn't be much fun, there's a lot of walking involved!
Hopefully something works out for you.0 -

Except by the time the Op has paid the inurance excess and then payed to reclaim the taxes, there wont be much money coming back, would be much better if BA would change to another date but that is very unlikely0 -
I spoke to BA and they wouldn't / couldn't move the flight so suggested I'd be better speaking to the insurers. So I've got the form, now need to get a medical certificate to prove. So next step is calling the doctors. I'll keep you posted in case this helps anyone else in future.0
