They don't do 3 hour callbacks anymore...
If you get through before 1pm and you get it requested before 1pm then they call you by 16:30
If you get through after 1pm then you get your callback by 1pm the following day.

When you send post recorded, registered or whatever, it arrives into the benefit centre's post room it takes about a week for it to reach someones desk and be entered onto the computer, if it is important, then registered/recorded is going to be useful to prove that they did receive it within the deadline. However recorded/registered was recently taking Royal Mail weeks to deliver, they had a huge backlog, possibly caused by the Olympic Games.

When you phone any of the Benefit Centre's phone numbers you get through to a network of call centres who can answer some questions, but if they can't answer they will get a callback booked for you...You cannot phone in to a Benefit Centre as such.

They have a number of different reference points to ask you security questions, your information may not be correctly held on the system being used to ask you the security questions, if you fail, phone up and try again (free from Jobcentres) if you eventually pass try to get them to correct the incorrectly held info that caused you to fail before, you probably won't know what caused you to fail, but if you write down what questions you are asked and what you replied, you should be able to go over that info with them (once you have passed) and get it confirmed as correctly held or not - remember they have more than one system where info is held so ask them to check both of the two main systems.

You should have got another call back booked for tomorrow before 1pm.....did you? When you know more let us know.

I got it from experience, of checking many recorded ref numbers on "track and trace" and finding that they were not delivered after week or more, there was a message on the track and trace saying that RM was experiencing heavy delays at present, this was a few weeks ago in the run up to OG, the OG excuse was just an office rumor for which I have no evidence. I'm sure if you write to post Office/RM they will tell you what was causing the delays, which thankfully seem to have been fixed now. And yes, it was to all parts of the country.

When sending ESA post you may not be sending it to a nearby postcode but to one on the opposite side of the country, i.e. London to Belfast or London to Glasgow, or Lincolshire to South Wales etc.

So the whole of the UK was experiencing weeks of delays?
    riiiiight
There was a message on the RM site regarding deliveries in London during the games & possible delays
Lets see if anyone else saw that message you say was showing

The message was showing when you put in the number like ZX141028417GB and when it came back as undelivered there was a message about current problems. I don't care what other people say they saw or not, all I am reporting is what I saw..

you mean the item posted on the 7th and delivered on the 8th........
At 2pm today you didnt know how to track on the RM site
now you have a message that isnt showing now?
UK service updates can be checked here.

Don't you think delays of that magnitude would deserve a mention?

What are you on about? I just used the OPs track number -as an example of a track number- which he posted in #10, I know it was delivered because the OP said so, :wall:

Your trolling is boring me now so I'll leave.

well you are going on about message talking about experiencing heavy delays.
    Why would that be?
Nothing on service updates. No strikes, bad weather or the like.
Summer is the lighter time for mail volumes.
So what would warrant a UK wide message regarding heavy delays?
LOL,another rolling out the trolling line
  • funny when people have an argument about random things on a post.

the issue seems to not be with my esa, but with a miscommunication/admin error between dwp and hbo.

have done an FoI request for the info they hold and copies of the memos

for clarification I, not Epitome is the OP i did find out how to track my special delivery post, i asked only because the whole sorry experience had triggered my least helpful coping mechanisms. My form was received to the local address the next day.

thank you for everyone who contributed to the royal mail sub thread, but it ended up being a red herring....
