benefits not in payment.... not a word from ATOS or DWP since I returned the form

so it has happened

the envelope i wasnt worried about because it was from the council , contained information that they had received information that my housing benefit was stopped.

It said ring your local housing office so I did.

He said to ring the Housing Benefit Office so I asked to speak to the local Housing Manager, at which point he put me through to Stuart, my housing officer

He explained very nicely, he knows my issues, that something had caused the DWP to suspend my benefit and I needed to ring the Jobcentre plus

So I went on the internet to the DWP site and got though to the local JC+ where a very nice man called Bill said I needed to ring a second 0845 number to get straight though to my local processing office and they would sort it.

My phone call got through to Mike in Stockport or somewhere.... he knows nothing, except my claim is not in payment.

I am now waiting for a call back by 5.

I am anxious and concerned.

I filled in my WCA, in some considerable detail, with medical letters supporting it. I sent it registered. I have heard nothing.

Surely this is not good news.

I am going to spend the day recycling old fabric into loveliness to distract myself.

We do have some money set aside, we now know our outgoings and have a small buffer. We have a very well stocked store cupboard and a money saving attitude.

I know its commonplace, my experience this morning, but it hits hard.

Contact the council, and inform them that you have no income.
You can be entitled to HB/CTB on this basis.
    Has the ESA50 been received?
Are you at the point you may have had a medical scheduled - 13 weeks or so into the claim?
  • i have been in support group for 18 months, was put there without "medical"
filled in WCA in good time and sent registered, boyt 2 weeks ago
Not received notification of a "medical".
    Have spoken to Council.
    Just panicking...... a lot

Once you know for sure that your benefit has been stopped then you'll need to inform the LA - either by phone or better still by visiting a one-for-all centre - that your income has dropped so that they can adjust the amount you pay. It's likely they'll want to view your last three or six monthly bank statements as evidence that you're below relevant means-tested benefit thresholds.

From what you wrote, it's fair to assume that it was stopped because they claim not have received your ESA50 in a timely manner.

I'd speak immediately to DWP regarding your ESA..number at top of DWP ESA letters... find out if it has been stopped and if so why.

  • the phone number on my esa letter gets me to the same switchboard in Preston (or somewhere) and is not a direct link to the local processing office

contacted my mental health team in case this triggers a relapse

emailed my MP and left telephone message. He has a good reputation

thank you all for your replies

3 hours 15 minutes and i may know something

Are the DWP giving a callback in 3 hours?

If so.. and they confirm ESA stopped because they took a decision that you failed the WCA rather than ESA50 has gone astray then make sure to request the ESA85A (ATOS report where medical not conducted) and ESA113 (GP completed form) if it exists along with demanding a letter be sent.. a statement of reasons. If on the other hand the ESA50 has gone missing and that's why you've lost entitlement be ready with the date you sent it to ATOS HC and point out you did send it as required, registered post.

I rang my 'local' number two weeks ago. After 26 minutes of listening to mind-numbing music I spoke to someone 250 miles away in Aberdeen who was harder to understand than Rab C. Nesbitt is. It transpired that they had received my correspondence on August 13th, six days after I sent it and five days later than Royal Mail's Track and Trace facility said that it was successfully delivered and signed for.
  • i have the post office receipt that it was sent on 070812, by special delivery which is next day guaranteed . not sure how to check delivery on-line though.... its 0845, so if anyone can advise....
