Happens to me when the relief postmans on,he delivers my mail to Crescent & hers to me in Court.
Actually gotten to know the girl who lives there & when it happens,she sends me a message on Facebook.
Tried complaining to the owner of the shop where the sub post office is,didn't work so moved on to other things...0 -

It's great being a postie when it's been snowing if you're on a strange route, as I've said, down a pot hole up to my knees. Something that couldn't be seen. Rubbish or wet leaves because some people are too lazy to sweep up their pathways or stairs. Slabs that pop up one end and sink the other. They are all things that can cause injury. I'm not talking about occasional leaves here, I'm talking mounds of them.
Antrobus has provided a link that could be very useful to you. However, it will depend also on whether you have addressed the issue that the postie/manager have with your path whether you have a case for appeal.
Yes I would still love to see this pathThere have been cases in the newspapers where people think it's wrong, but where posties have sustained injuries. It can be quite difficult to walk over some of these paths with 8-10 kg on your back with a bundle of mail in front of your nose, you don't always see the hazards. Surely it's in any employers' interest to protect their workers from injury? They obviously see your property as a risk or they wouldn't do it. In all honesty, I've never seen them doing it without good reason

I could have written the OP's mail. I have a slightly non standard address, and an entrance which requires a 20yd walk with a right angle turn. Over the last ten years my postal service has been really poor. There have been times when it is ok, which I assume is down to a postie who understands the responsibilities of his job, but it never lasts. Recently the parcel postie actually advised me that he knew that my letter mail was going astray and where it was - good guy. I complained. Surprise surprise, the letter postman has declared my pathway a trip hazard, which it isn't. To avoid doubt I have needlessly had the path re-laid, a waste of my time and money because a worthless individual is asserting his rights vexatiously. It remains to be seen if it is still an "alleged" trip hazard.
I feel sorry for the decent people in Royal Mail, because as it's reputation continues to descend, other services will take it's place and they will be out of a job.
I now expect a long an pointless arbitration process and continued poor service. The point of this mail is to support the OP and point out that the negative responders seem to think common sense is not a pre-requisite skill for delivery staff.0 -

The problem delivery staff have is if they walk down an unsuitable path,stairs etc
then have a fall etc
RM can and will discipline them plus not treat the accident as an accident on duty(these are treated differently than sick absences)

The RM (or any other employer) does not assume total responsibility for the existence of it's staff during working hours. If a postman slips on a banana while on his rounds, it's his/her problem,exactly as it would be if it occurred while off duty. Anyone has a reasonable responsibility to look where they are going. As for being disciplined for having a genuine accident - I doubt it.
Meanwhile my point is that my postman (and others it seems) are able to dream up "issues" as retaliation for being taken to task for (provable) incompetence. The fact they do do this is not a surprise, given their evident lack of ethics. The problem is that this behaviour works, in as far as it is inconvenient and costly for the target of this tactic.0 -

It would have been a manager that risk assessed your path, not the "lazy" postie
We haven't been told whether there has been an assessment and a letter from RM saying the path is a hazard. If there hasn't they should surely be delivering properly.0
