It doesn't allow for the cash option against a proper invoice which is perfectly valid method of doing business.
What should I look for to make sure that invoice is a proper invoice?

Unique invoice number, name and address of firm or name of proprietor if a sole trader, VAT registration number if he is VAT registered.

The poll should really ask if we are prepared to be an accessory to tax evasion. I don't know if this is a crime, but it really cheesed me off that down in Brixham, Devon, everyone seemed to be committing tax fraud, and not putting work through their books. Why should these parasites suck money from the state without putting any in? Maybe if one of them got mugged, the coppers should ask for proof of paying tax and if none is forthcoming, reply with "On your way mate, we don't provide a service for you".

Its not being a accessory to tax evasion if anyone pays in cash, it can still go through the books even if its cash ......

Who said they dont "put anything in" Who said they dont pay their taxes if they get cash, if your providing a proper written invoice the customer can pay how he likes................

Getting mugged, the coppers and paying tax ,dont really come into it...............

Thanks shegar. All too often posters on this forum equate a cash payment with not paying taxes (and thats not what Leif is saying BTW if I read him correctly) and howls of self righteous anguish go up at the merest hint of a suggestion of it. Thats why I take issue with the usefullness and competance of the poll as written.
