The poll should really ask if we are prepared to be an accessory to tax evasion. I don't know if this is a crime, but it really cheesed me off that down in Brixham, Devon, everyone seemed to be committing tax fraud, and not putting work through their books. Why should these parasites suck money from the state without putting any in? Maybe if one of them got mugged, the coppers should ask for proof of paying tax and if none is forthcoming, reply with "On your way mate, we don't provide a service for you".Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0

Lets call a spade a spade and stop beating around the bush. He's claiming VAT back on his purchases and discounting the VAT off the final invoice. Now the reasons for this could be many, but pure greed could be quite low on the list. Necessity may be quite high up. Companies are taxed to absolute death at the moment to pay for a failing economy and the vast amount of people who abuse the welfare state. A lot of trades have to compete against a wave of economic migrants who live many to a house and pay zero tax. How is a working man with a family and a mortgage meant to compete at the lower end of the market where everything is dictated by price. Its not right to abuse the system, but I would hazard a guess, many people simply dont have a choice. Its easy to judge from your ivory towers, but I would never put a person down for doing what they have to do in order to keep their head above water. Just because they are doing this, it doesnt mean you will get a substandard job, the usual checks and guarantees should still be there.0

Poll remains severely flawed in its concept and questions.

Because it assumes that paying cash means 100% that nothing will be going the way of HMRC and therefore raise the question off all cash transactions being fraudulent which they are not despite what that eyedee10tee Cameron is trying to peddle at the moment. . It doesn't allow for the cash option against a proper invoice which is perfectly valid method of doing business.

Think for the sake of the thread the OP assumes nothing is going to the govt. the company trouser the pound notes and claims for the materials and the customer gets a discount.0
