Bruce is the b & W one and is a feisty little bug ger, if he's in a bad mood he'll charge at you and growl, but we all love him anyways. He's 5

Right everyone...please stop posting cute bunny pics otherwise I will be holding you all responsible if I do get a bunny now...which I am now seriously tempted to.

I'm going with a mate to a local animal rescue centre at the weekend as she wants a cat and I have a feeling she might have to come with me to look at the bunnies...

Well MrsDrink, you're a woman after my own heart :D My bunnies also are "free range", I only put them in the kitchen at night as I always worry they may manage to get to the electric cables, despite having protected them. And don't feel bad that he is on his own. Bonding rabbits (and no, nothing naughty :p ) is really hard as rabbits can be really aggressive toward each other. I know people who never managed to find a companion for their rabbits as they only seek human attention and will attack any rabbit in sight  Even when neutered/spayed.

To all of you who rescued bunnies and give them such a lovely life, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I volunteer for a rabbit and guinea pig rescue and I cannot tell you the number of nights I spent having nightmares after hearing some of the stories... :(

And to kind hearted people who really wish to give a rescue bunny a second chance, please visit the RAWF website for plenty of advice as rabbits can be quite "expensive" to keep (vaccinations, etc) and after all it's an MSE forum, so it's best to include all this in our budget :D Also, do not hesitate to ask questions at the rescue.

I don't really know how to add pictures on here. But it is probably best as I am one proud bunny slave and would have inundated the thread with photos :rotfl:

Beware though, rabbits are very much like cats. They will enslave you. You'll be their "staff" :rotfl: In fact, I have this theory that rabbits are just vegetarian versions of cats: independent, sometimes very haughty, they cuddle when and where and with whom they want, they are freakishly clean (when trained properly) and will have you trained within a week :rotfl:

Ellie - Our little sausage started life off in a flat in a small old fashioned hutch - you know the sort that we would have all had when we were kids. He used to drive his owner bonkers (well wouldn't you misbehave if that was your home?). MrD bought him home on my first day back at work after the school holidays - I can remember he walked in the house shouted at me to close my eyes and hold out my hands. The next thing I knew there was this little bundle of fluff plonked in my hands and his little claws poking my fingers. Awwww. (I will upload the photo of him taken on that first day - he was such a baby). Makes me all smiley just reminiscing. He was such an ickle thing!!

With regards to wires we found out quite soon there was two types of behaviour being exhibited. The first was his love of soft cables, like mobile phone and laptop chargers (they are slightly softer and bendier than normal wires). He would happily nibble his way along these. (Starting at one end, chomp chomp chomp his way through). Lol. Sod. Lol. He soon had us trained to not leave them around. Other than that we learnt he needed something else he'd enjoy mauling. Hence all the paper in the pictures above. He adores shredding paper. You put paper down on the floor at your own peril in this household. Actually we're really lucky he hasn't discovered where the mail lands on the doormatting!!

The second type of behaviour when it comes to wire has been when they are just simply in his way. Before we nailed bits of plyboard to our TV stand (more MSE than buying a new one with sides) he would find his way through the smallest gap to sit behind the TV. It's nice and enclosed there - just like where he sleeps now - behind the sofa. But once he'd get there and try to snuggle down he'd have all these wires poking him stopping him from getting comfy so he'd try to organise them and get them out of the way. But obviously with teeth that sharp it can just slice through it. It's actually a wonder he didn't hurt himself in the process!! We haven't overly bunny proofed out house to be honest. We've pretty much done what we would do if we had a small child. He certainly doesn't seek wires out to munch on. As I type we've got the hoover out (which has been plugged in and the cord unravelled) for a few days; and he actually lies down next to a normal 4 way extension lead. As long as it's flat on the floor he leaves it alone.

I think you should learn how to put piccies up Ellie :D
And I absolutely agree that rabbits are like cats. :D They are just far cuter (in my opinion)! :D

    Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Adorable!!!!

You're lucky yours isn't a cable hunter. The little female will gnaw at everything so I have to be so careful :o

I hate these tiny hutches. And I always get in trouble in pet shop for pointing out the size of their hutch. I even report them to the RAWF when I see tiny ones being advertised. They don't have any legal power obviously, but you never know, they may convinced the shop owner to stop selling tiny hutches.

And don't even get me started on the size of guinea pig hutches...

I just love reading heartwarming stories like this. This bunny must think he is in heaven now. :)

(just as I am typing this, my two are running around like headless chickens, play-chasing eachother and binking so high, they should enter the bunnylimpics :rotfl: )

Completely agree with you about teeny hutches, makes me so sad :(

My sister has a rabbit in a small hutch and whenever hubby and I go over we really have to bite our tongues not to say anything.
