    Hi Sensible77,
You stated your phone bill was £38 per month (I think..) I can help reduce this as I work for a telecoms and utility firm. Please contact me just to see what I can offer you and help to cut your debt.

I think you should check out the article on the main site regarding phone calls. I've made a list of cheapest connections to Ireland, Sweden and Canada where my family are, switched my general calls to Primus Talksaver, and also noted the cheapest providers to call mobiles etc. I stuck them to the wall by my phone along with the saynoto0870 numbers for my bank etc.

From there just be brutal. I will wait to call my mum after 6 when its free. I will not call mobiles, use free texts by registering with O2 etc, and will call abroad at the cheapest time at the cheapest rate. I budget calls and expect those that cost to be recipricol (sp) unless its an emergency.

Also, if you go with Primus, recommend as much as you can. I have got 3 people signed up which is savings for them and £60 quids worth of calls for me! Looking forward to no phone bills for quite a while!

You're doing really well, keep it up!

I've decided to go with Payplan for an IVA. Heard from them today to say that they now have all the information necessary to put forward my proposal.
Since I've come clean about all this with my wife I don't feel any better about the situation. I think it's really hit home now as I was fooling myself in the past. I don't want to get out of paying my debts back in full, (they are my responsibility, I wasn't forced to borrow), but I just want to get ourselves sorted out. In a way it’s been like revealing a dark family secret that you know deep down must be brought out into the open, but will cause heartache and distress. Sorry if that seems melodramatic.

It will feel like a weight off your shoulders, because you ARE dealing with it and you have told your wife so you're not hiding now. Keep your chin up :)

Payplan now have everything they need to put my proposal to my creditors. I've had the R3 phone call, signed & returned the R3 form and the proposal. They told me that the creditors meeting will be in about 5 to 6 weeks. Fingers crossed!

Hey sensible, take no notice of that bunch on the other forum, I notice none of them had the guts to come here and say anything it's very easy to sit there posturing when you're not asked to justify your comments. Just realise that you are the intelligent one, you are facing your problem and dealing with it. Unlike those who sit there slagging off other people behind there backs while ignoring the quite obvious problems they have in their own lives... being a decent human being is one that jumps right out of that forum.

Hi, Miss Scarlet. Thanks for your post. The posting on Global HousePriceCrash didn't surprise me as people love other people's misfortune/stupidness as it hides their own inadequacies and it's a source of entertainment for them. They know nothing about me and their assumptions in the posts are way out. Many people are "holier than thou" when they are not in the same boat and always know what to do when they don't have to do it themselves. It's easy to criticise, but not so easy to help, which is why I appreciate this board.

Just to let you all know that my IVA was approved today. Between my wife and I we have worked out a realistic budget, and whilst it won't be plain sailing, we're sure it is achievable. Thanks to everyone for their supportive posts and good luck to anyone else embarking on this route. I would like to recommend IVA.co.uk for further IVA advice and information. Please view my thread on their website: http://www.iva.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?whichpage=9&TOPIC_ID=2425&#19487
