  • Wife and I went shopping to the local ASDA this morning. Managed to buy the week's shopping for £17.98 - mainly ASDA Smart Price products. Proves it can be done. Started to be really strict on spending - no extras or things we don't need. I'm sure everyone starts off with great enthusiasm and it may wane, but with the help of the people on this board we are both confidant that we can get through it. I wish PayPlan could speak to me sooner, (ringing me Tuesday 3 April), to get the ball rolling, but I appreciate that they are a free service and will do their best.

dont worry there will be plenty of people on the forum that will keep you motivated. Whilst you are waiting for payplan why not sort out some other things like checking out better prices for gas etc or why not have use the time for an excuse to have a clear out and do a car boot or ebay?

    Hi

Loads of good advice already given but I just wanted to say that you and your wife should keep a spending diary so you keep a record of your money, that way it will help you stay motivated by trying to keep your spending as low as possible and you can both compare.

Good luck you've got a great attitude and I'm sure you'll feel tonnes better when you have a clear route to follow.

  • An IVA is the best solution i think if you owe loads, my husband and i have debts of £55000, we are currently going through an IVA scheme, just waiting for a creditors meeting anyday now, so we hope it all goes okay, and it will be nice not to be scared to answer the phone again, and not to be stressed out all the time with the mess we are in, I just want my life back to normal again.
  • does anyone know about this website refunds direct, that says you can claim back child tax credit from a couple of years back

    Hi, Danno.

I've noted the equity in the house in my earlier posts.

    Hi

I own a debt advice company, I have input your figures into our statement of means and you would not qualify for an IVA as your surplus income is insufficient and a few of your creditors will only accept IVA's at over 45p in the £. This means that you would need approximately £750 surplus income each month which would just not be sustainable for you.

My company helps people with their own DMP's absolutely free of charge.

We calculate your monthly payments to creditors on a pro rata basis, produce a statement of means on your behalf and raise letters for you to send to creditors. We will also help you through the process and give you advice whenever you need it.

Let me know if I can help.

    Good luck

So in your first paragraph you tell the OP he's knackered...

Then you offer to help him.... 'free of charge'.

    Shut the door behind you.
