I keep a couple to line the box with for our newly hatched chicks - the cardboard is too smooth, and they keep skidding around.

Son's swimming lessons because he lost the nice one
On the beach so you don't spoil the nice towels with sand and suncream

I found that when I cut up old bath towels they frayed everywhere. Do other people hem them? Or is there some special trick to cutting them up that I've missed?0

Yes you have to do something with the edges if you don't want them to fray.
Most of my towels are 40 yrs old-Wedding presents, (OH in army most things provided in quarters then) I have also claimed all the towels from homes I have helped to break up on death. An aunt whose towels I inherited had bound the edges with bias binding, but I think that is going a little too far!0 -
Thanks for your replies,everyone.
I decided to give the towels to a small, local animal rescue centre,I don't know why I didn't think of them to begin with, actually.
When my dog died suddenly last year,I gave them his basket, bedding, toys etc.and a big sack of dry dog food, which I had only just opened. They are only a small organisation and they depend on donations to keep going.I would rather support them than a big charity which gets funding from other sources.0
