Will paypal give me my money back

I recently paid promptly for a necklace I won off ebay it cost me just under £100. However its been two weeks and the item has never turned up.
The seller said they posted it to me via first class delivery and provided me with the bar code tracking number given to them on the royal mail reciept. You can put this into the track and trace and it shows an item was sent. However this is not a recorded tracking number, just the normal confirmation tracking you would get from post office for sending an item first class.

I am in the middle of an paypal dispute with them and see they were asked to provide tracking and provided them with the first class postage tracking number, even though they did not send it recorded. So the tracking number only shows it was posted and not that I got it. Royal mail depot told me it obviously got lost in the system.

But will paypal side with them using that tracking number, rather than me even though I never got my item

Paypal will probably side with you - the seller has to prove delivery, not posting.

And don't let them try to make you wait until they get compensation from Royal Mail either before you get your refund. Or in fact, tell you that you have to get the refund from Royal Mail - that's all their problem!

And looking at the value, they won't get all their money back either - to send jewellery, or an item over £46, a seller should use Special Delivery. As they have underinsured their package, it's their loss, not yours

Paypal will side with you on this, sellers must prove delivery.

Also, and one of the posties on here may well have to correct me, if they have used business tracking (hence the 1st class but still showing a receipt number) they would not be able to make a claim from RM anyway as that is the service, I believe, that RM no longer insure. I might be wrong, and either way it makes no difference to you.

oh that good news as the tracking number they provided me was a first class standard one on the recipt but still looked like a regular one
    e.g. AA 0001 0001 9GB

But would only show it was posted .

And yes I too was upset they only posted the item first class standard for an expensive item

I haven't seen a tracking number for 'standard first class' post ever.

Have you checked out https://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails to see what the full tracking shows?

Well she told me she sent it first class delivery standard not recorded and provided me with the BAR CODE number on the receipt of confirmation. Which was written similar to this: AA 0001 0001 9GB
I have searched it in track and trace and it says under status it was "ACCEPTED AT POL".

And that was nearly two weeks ago.

    What does royalmail.com/trackdetails say?

Either way, unless it says 'delivered' you would win an INR.

Kimmy, unless the tracking shows as 'delivered' you will get your money back from an INR dispute. If the item was over £150 it must also show a signature.

Did you specifically check my link for tracking and NOT the track and trace. There *could be more detail on my link.
