Price Promise not a Promise?
Hi folks
Went to my local car supermarket and found a lovely motor at a reasonable price, thought I'd give myself overnight to decide and persuade my wife we ought to buy it.
As the company in question offers a 'Price Promise' I thought I'd do some searching, and found a near-identical car (the only difference are the colour and about 1000 miles on the clock) for less.
So I printed off the details, marched into the dealer and asked for the price match only to be told the other dealer wasn't big enough- it HAD to be from either a main dealer or a car supermarket! Obviously, I understand it shouldn't be a private seller, but this just seems overly picky, especially as there is no mention of any of this on their website
Any ideas about how I could proceed? Currently trying to find some contact details for head office as you get seven days after purchase.
I know I could go for the other car, BUT it's on the other side of the country (not a problem for the price match), I have always had good dealings with this place and they are giving me a great price on my current motor.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Not sure the "main dealer/supermarket only" restriction would hold water particularly if it's not in the T&C but if they are giving you a "great" price on your trading in then on fairness grounds you should also be taking that into account.0

How could I push this? They've already turned down the price match once.0

How much less are you talking about?0

£1000, so not insignificant0

Having looked around, I would say mine is a reasonable price; I was willing to pay it before I found the other one!
No idea why the other one is so much cheaper- the photos of it all seem fine, spoke to the dealer about it over the phone but haven't actually physically seen it as its on the other side of the country.0 -
If the other one is such a good buy, buy the thing.
Or could it be that the private sale is simply too good to be true.0 -

You haven't said if the PX price is the same at both dealers?
If your local is giving a good PX and for warranty work etc they are convenient, then the are worth a small premium. Depending what the price to change is from the other dealer will enable a true comparison.0
