Would like to have caller display, but all the numbers in the memory are prefixed by 18866. Does it still work?

I don't have caller display but I understand from people that do have it, if I call them using 18866 the number comes up as if it is an international number.

For your incoming calls, I thought this was discussed before. Advanced search "caller display 18866" has 5 results; this is one

Haven't looked at the others yet, but it seems the answer is no. Some people recommended the Orchid Dialler to put the prefix, then it would work0 -
Just to confirm, if you call another number with 18866, the other end will see your normal number appear (and without the prefix).0

They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").0 -
I'm now totally confused. Appears different things happen to different people.

I think it depends on time of day/route the call took.
When I 1st started with 18866 i was checking to my mobile from my landline and the incoming call was missing the last digit!!
Not that I care and it's cheap :beer:0 -
Maybe it depends if you have the number in your memory or not? If my daughter calls me on my mobile using 18866 from home it comes up on the mobile as Home but if I call people on their landline with caller display and I am not in the memory of their landline phone it shows up with the international code in front of my number.
Any clearer?

The simple answer is Yes.
If you have your friends numbers pre programmed in your phone with the prefix 18866, when they call you, you will see who is calling you.
You may have a problem with the Orchid dialler, but the supplier can make a modification to get over that problem0 -
Not always. We have a daughter and a friend who are both in the memory of our phone and sometimes they show as their correct number and name, other times as international. There seems to be no pattern to this either, and it doesn't seem to make any difference to the quality of the call.0

Hi,
I have asked this question a number of time to various LCR providers (one.tel, talk talk etc.) and the answer I always get back is: -
The LCR operater has no control over this function. As a result of the service that they are provided, you will get caller id transmitted sometimes and not others and there is no way for them to tell you when.
Hope this helps.0
