In the blink of an eye. My family was my life, every mum will understand that. I come home to an empty house and I cannot bare it, but at the same time , I dont have a social life as I cannot bare to have to go over things that have happened in real life. I suppose I jsut go through the motions, but I still say "we" "us" , sometimes I forget, sometimes I just want it to still be we and us.

That's really personal Frugal,
Didn't want to probe...but quite understand. It has happened differently to me but the end is still the same.
And you come home to an empty house and your own company...early days for many of us...so I hope things will improve but it's a long hard road.
Whether we manage to come to terms and remain alone or one day share our time with someone special. It's just me now...
We can create some of our destination but a lot is chance and luck...
As you say life goes on...

Frugal frog (((hugs)))) I have been reading the thread this evening and there is nothing I have read that would indicate you have any reason to feel embarrassed. like many people you are making the best of the situation you find yourself in.
I know you have said your nearest foodbank is 20 miles away but it may be worth still giving them a call to see if they can help as I know the ones in my area will deliver. Also have you though about having a look on freecycle for a bike or trolley to help making transporting your food easier.0 -
Hi Frugal Frog,
About the carpet, when we didn't have them whenever we went past a carpet shop we looked to see if they had a box of old samples or single carpet tiles they were getting rid of and had patchwork rugs of all colours and textures. We taped them together with parcel tape as that's what we had but it made a difference.0 -
Frugal Frog - sorry for late reply but I was wondering if you knew anyone who could buy the £10 M&S voucher from you then you'd have the cash to spend in Tesco or somewhere?"A strong man stands up for himself, a stronger man stands up for others" Barnyard the children's film.

This is a good idea i know because i buy vouchers on other forums/facebook i use all the time, with it being a forum/facebook i usually pay £8 for £10 but if a friend or family memeber asked me i'd pay full price, you get full price on ebay but after fee's ect it's not really full price.DEC GC £463.67/£450

Frugal Frog, I think you're doing amazingly well. I've been flat broke before and it's the worst thing, I think that's why I stock up and try to live so OS now - I never want to go back there. You'll get through this, and there will be better times. Someone as resilient and brave as you will make it. Good luck and you have all my support and best wishes for whatever that's worth.Grocery challenge September 2022: £230.04/£200

I did manage to make a massive shepherds pie and bulked it out with beans. I bought 1, yes 1, burger from the deli, reduced to 20p, I broke it up and used carrots onions and good ol baked beans to bulk it out, mixed in with gravy, topped with mash. It tasted quite good, made it stretch to 4 dinners, with loads of reduced veg on the sides.
