I have 3 dogs and a pony and I'd sleep in my car before I'd ever give them away. Good for you for putting out furry friends first.:beer:0 -
Oh.. I do not have a car... to sleep in..hmmm LOL0

((Chirpychick)) you'll get there, hun, it just takes patience, self-belief and courage.
I know where you're coming from with some people around me it's almost like we don't live on the same planet; there's money for gigs, theatre, long-haul hols and designer duds and here's me as the poor church mouse. Not that they're not working hard for it in demanding jobs, because they darned well are.I work hard, too, but only part-time for health reasons, so have to cut my coat accordingly. It's OK most of the time but sometimes you feel a bit.......y'know, as if the world is rubbing your nose in it. And then you come onto MSE and meet like-minded souls, and feel a bit better.
I have been on a shopping trip of sorts. The supermarket was devoid of YS bargains so I left that but I did get an as-new man's shirt from the army surplus place for 99p.Once it's washed I shall de-macho it somewhat by removing the epaulettes and possibly the collar (leaving the collar stand for a grandad-shirt type effect). On past experience, I may well have to shorten the sleeves by removing the cuffs, opening up the sleeve placket a bit, cutting off an inch or two of sleeve then re-attaching the cuffs.
It's always amazed me that I can be nearly 6 feet tall, long limbed and still have man's shirtcuffs come down half-way over my hands. Then I may switcheroonie the buttons (with old ones from the stash) for something a little more femme and then have a useful shirt.
And then, joy of joys, I went into a c.s. which stands aside from my beaten track and saw a huge thick fleecy blanket (100 x150 cm Debenhams) in my fave bitter chocolate brown for a fiver. It's in the washer now. It matches the curtains. That's winter snuggledom all sorted out (dearth of furries in my household). I'm very very pleased with my afternoon.
Spent £5.99 and am as happy as Larry. Who was Larry btw?Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

No, but I once had my brain telling me one foot was soaking wet and I had to keep looking down to check :rotfl:. It coincided with one side of my face, arm and leg losing all colour and looking odd. Thought I'd had a stroke but it was a type of migraine. Maybe yours is something similar?
I also get headaches which are located about 9" in front of my left eye. Try explaining that to someone else. Luckily I know a few other people who get them. Mind you, they're weird too :rotfl:. Osteopath says it's normal, or at least normal amongst his patients
.
Hope it eases soon. If not, will save you a fortune in new carpets.
Sounds like a hemiplegic migraine, my cousin suffers badly with migraines , ended up in hospital for 3 weeks with the last one. Worth googling though as you can be aware of when an attack will occur. hthSPC 2012 #1456

GreyQueen thanks
I am glad you know what I mean!!
The shirt sounds like a great bargain, I will carry on working on my sewing skills so I can get up to that sort of level lol.
Apparently some New Zealand person invented the saying and there isn't really a Larry that happy Larry is based on LOLEverything is always better after a cup of tea0 -
I had a kidney and adrenal gland removed in Aril this year (cancer).
Last year was diagnosed with sleep apnea and even now, on my 3rd mask and 2nd CPAP machine feel like... most of the time. Never get any decent sleep ever, always tired like hell.
Went to GP yesterday, done some blood tests this morning, results next week.
Got a dermatologist appointment (urgent - nasty mole playing up) next week, urology appointment (peeing every hour so they gonna do some bladder test) on the same day in the afternoon.
Sleep clinic appointment (got to find a mask that will aloow me to get some decent sleep) next week and neurology appointment (permanent headache, fuzzy head, lack of concentration, diziness etc etc) in October.
Then 1st November my surgery 6 month follow up - fingers crossed all clear.
Working full time with all the above going on is a total utter murder , not being able to afford any treats on top of all this is another nightmare.
Glad I have found this thread as feel like banging my head against the wall most of the time0 -
I have well and truly reached breaking point. Lost my job last month (knew it was coming for a while, I hung on to mine longer than most colleagues) have had no money since 31july. No jobseekers as of yet, I am praying I get a payment soon.
Cupboards are near bare, electric meter is on emergency and I do not have a penny to my name.
I have always worked, but never earnt enough to save more than a few quid, and every time I build a stash something needs replacing etc.
I do have a boots card with about a fiver on it and 3 quid left on a voucher card, so can buy reduced sandwiches and milk from there.
I honesly am fed up. I worked so so hard yet I am worse off than when I was a teenager!
I know its only for a short while til I regain work , but oh its making me miserable!
Now I wish I had stocked up my cupboards before!!!
I am determined once I restart work I will never be in this situation again, I just dont know how to cut costs any furthur, no phone, sky, dont drink, smoke, have a social life. I just scrape by, now I feel lower than a worms belly.
end of moan,:)SPC 2012 #1456

gettingready, you are going through the mill aren't you. You are amazing carrying on working through it all, but I guess you dont have much choice. feel free to get everything off your chest , it does help.
Frugal frog, I do hope you find a new job soon. the powers that be never seem to be in a rush to pay out what you are entitled to do they - as I know from bitter experience. At least when you start work again you may be able to stash a few tins each week to have as a back=up. You moan away - that at least is free. While you are waiting for the money to come through start a little plan of what needs to be paid first and a list of basics that will stretch your pennies then you will feel in control again.

Did anyone find anything about the European social fund food supply that the Portuguese person in the mail was talking about? It seems it would be helpful to many people and we are after all supposedly part of Europe.
Frugal Frog is there a food bank anywhere near you?0 -
Thanks, I have never claimed in my life, I must say the man at the jobcentre was helpful, but said It would take a good few weeks for me to recieve a letter, let alone a payment? I cannot ebay things as I have no money to post them, I have no items to sell on a collect basis, though I suppose I could do my clothing as a job lot collection only.
I did start a small stock cupboard on the advice of someone on another post on this board, but thsts well depleted now!
I have a huge list of bills (well, they are not huge, but when you are penniless, even a tenner seems huge!!) and wil sort them as soon as I recieve a payment of jsa. Aslo I will start a storecupboard and will NEVER let it get low. If I had done what I knew I should have done, I would have food to see me trhough til I get a payment. still, this is a good learning curve!.
I did start a cupboard, but it had only about a tenners worth in it, and I have never eaten so many baked beans in my life, if it wasnt for beans, I may well be half starving by now.
nwards and upwards I suppose.SPC 2012 #1456
