If its a jar you are going to use in one go, like the pasta sauce, take a sharp knife/fork/screwdriver and pierce the lid :)

Me? Sharp knife? Screwdriver? Aimlessly stabbing at the lid of a jar? You may as well call the ambulance now!

I do occasionally stab holes in the lid of a pickle jar when it's empty.
Ever tried sprinkling yer chips with the pickled onion vinegar? Sophisticated? No. Tasty? You bet!:D

I did watch it one year. I kept clicking on the runner ups blog. The pink whisk or something like that.

Very inspiring! I LOVE cookery programmes but I tend to get addicted. Love all things masterchef too but haven't yet clicked on to the catchup for celebrity masterchef yet this season either. :o

If you are opening a jar that you are going to use all of, pasta sauce etc knock a hole in the top with a sharp knife, it takes the pressure off it and opens easily.
No use for jam or anything that you will use over time though.
Take care what you do on the way up, it may come back at you on the way down.
    Kindness costs nothing.

My family do this but I am one of those strange people who hates salt and vinegar. I don't even have them on chips.
