Please help me transaction taken from store with out authorisation!!

We went to a drive through take away, we gave the card to the employee, they don't have chip and pin so they asked for a signature instead.
so when we got the receipt we noticed amount was wrong, we asked them to amend the amount but they said they already put the order through, is it illegal for them to put it through without signature authorisation?

Please advise me on this

Thanks

They can cancel the transaction and put it through again. Call your card issuer and report them.
  • We were over charged so they refunded that one then took the right amount, so I had to wait for 5 days for my refund there fore I was out of pocket due to their mistake
  • Surely it's to do with fraud they should check that the signature matches the card before going through with payment ?

If you were refunded, how are you out of pocket ? Did you not check the amount before signing the slip ?
  • Because they refunded the wrong amount they had already taken, then charged us the correct amount, so we were out of pocket for the wrong amount?

Also we noticed the amount was wrong as soon as we was handed the slip to sign so it didn't get signed but they said they had already processed it when we asked them to change the amount or decline the order

This is why I was Thinking it may be illegal ?

Not illegal but certainly against Visa's, MasterCard's and American Express's rules.

You don't need a signature for a transaction to debit, think about internet purchases ?

They refunded the wrong amount, then charged you the correct amount, wheres the problem ?

A simple mistake by the retailer, nothing illegal there. You can't change an amount once it's been entered, thats why they refunded it and entered the correct amount.

    Move on.

Still cannot see how you are out of pocket.
How much do you think you have lost?

Perhaps the refund took a few days to credit the account, and OPs 'available balance' was temporarily affected?

So they just didn't have access to those funds for a few days.
