broadband and download limits

okay im looking into getting broadband...maybe tescos as thats who im with now

i see the package includes broadband at a stated speed and a download limit, now were online alot , maybe up to 12hrs a day between us . my question is how do i know what amount of downloads i would use?

i dont want to sign up to a package and find ive used my limit in the first week...so basicly id use , email and forum browsing approx 12hrs a day, maybe the odd youtube video and radio now n then, no huge downloads to speak off


would anyone know if any providers would let me keep my tesco.net email addys?

load this on your pc and use broaband normally and it gives you total usage for downloads and uploads. so you know what your using.

I am with bulldog at the moment with a steady 12 meg connection, I don't think they have any fair usage at the moment because I download up to 10gb a day sometimes and have never had a warning from them!

Because they use and control their own network (LLU) and don't need to buy capacity from BT wholesale etc.

as bad a press as aol get i download loads and play pro evo online fairly regualry and in the year and a half i've been with them had no warning about usage etc. just get rid of their software.

I agree with you Ants97. My mate has just joined AOL (Platinum package with U/L downloads and no fair use policy) after breaking Demon's fair use rules.

He gets 7.6 meg on an 8 meg service - Demon was 4.5 meg.

Obviously it isnt cheap but then he is a serious torrent user,

Just dont install any AOL software....

I hate how ISP's blanket advertise saying they can do speeds of "upto" something.

I could run 100 meters in 10 seconds. However when you see me, you will know thats not realistic :rotfl: :rotfl:

I have just emailed my mate. I suspect he will be hacked off as he has 10 months to run on his contract.

What is wrong is AOL advertise the package as unlimitted and charge accordingly. I bet they dont reduce his monthly subscription......
