:Morning all,
Its so hot here, last night was so humid it was almost unbearable, today is set to be the same, not the best day to be painting a room then :rotfl: OH will be rubbing a few bits down on the ceiling and then painting that, and I shall start mis coating the walls.
Anyone got any ideas where I can get a duck egg blue, linen roman blind ? I have searched the interweband cant seem to find a linen one, well not one for under £100 anyway.
Dinner tonight, not sure yet maybe an omlette dd is off out to eat, one of her step brothers just got engaged and they are off out for a meal. OH and I have been invited to a party but will see how we feel.
2 loads of washing to do, will dry in a flash today.
Have good days all xx

Morning all, lovely sunny day here. We start moving my son's furniture to his new bungalow this weekend. As it's stored in several places it's going to take some time! His carers are being fantastically helpful, my OH is helping too so many hands will hopefully make light work. It will be so nice to have space in my house again and not feel like I am wandering around a cross between a junk yard and an obstacle course! Also hugely relieved that he will be living in a much more suitable placement. We took him to see the new bungalow on Thursday and although he was very agitated (which meant that 2 staff and I were kept fully occupied the whole time) he did seem to like it. His father (who claims to be totally across what happens in his son's life) hasn't even asked when the moving date is. I am so tempted to let him find out by him phoning his old placement and being told his son doesn't live there anymore! I figure it's ok to have wicked thoughts just not to act on them?
Have made quiche and fruit cake for us to keep our strength up during the day and cooked ahead (stuffed baked potatoes and a huge chilli) for the weekend as I figured we would be too tired to cook after hot days spent moving furniture.

Have you thought of getting a roman blind kit and the material you want and getting it made up?
Wondering what has happened to the heatwave the newspapers were raving over. Dull and overcast here.
DH is driving me to look at stuff for bathroom later and popping into Ald* hoping they still have some kitchen equipment for dd to take to uni. We need a trip out to look at things like a couple of duvet covers and towels, nice mugs, plates etc. If there is room in the car will pack extra toothpaste, shampoo and showergel as well as toilet rolls and laundry capsules (good offer at Ama*on ) As her older sister pointed out you don't realise how expensive toiletries are until you have to buy them for yourself.
Can't believe youngest will be away in September. We will all miss her but she has got the course and university she wanted and it is not as if she will be at the ends of the earth.
Made fish pies yesterday so a couple of us will have that for tea and I will do a stir fry or veggie pasta for the rest of us.
Hugs to all"This site is addictive!"

Morning everyone,
PP Have a lovely holiday.
nlj1520 hope that the move goes well.
tiredmum happy birthday.
mucky-moo hugs for you.
Judi glad that things are going better for you.
Bitsy holidays are good whatever the weather.
I have some friends popping in for a flying visit today that I haven't seen for 8 years. We had our first babies together and were really close, then they moved away to run a farm and we haven't seen them since. Really looking forward to it.
Saw my mum yesterday and she is a bit more mobile as she now has a knee brace instead of a cast but she is still in a wheelchair and looking weary. My dad is looking after her brilliantly and he can see that it is only temporary but I think she can't wait to be back to normal.
My fingers are permanently purple at the moment from picking and freezing blackberries!
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -

With all you have to do in the move then it would be surprising if you had time to call his father with information you would have assumed as a concerned and involved parent , he already knew.
Miaow (possibly little bit catty towards his father) but really seems like common sense if you and OH are rushing around frantically moving furniture, tidying, reassuring etc that you would naturally expect his father to have enquired and to help in some way.
I hope the move goes well and is not to much stress on all of you."This site is addictive!"

I'm off to pick up the rest of my stuff with my Dad today, then a meal and going out with extended family. I will try to fit in some OU work and some sewing. I've got loads of work clothes to alter, especially tops that need turning up. I'm not that short but formal clothes just seem to emphasize it and I look like a kiddy swamped in her mum's clothes.Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -

we went to ike@ to get bits and bobs like that for DD, i have started a box with tins , pasta etc, she loves cooking so will want to cook from scratch which hopefully will be cheaper for her and she has bought herself a student cookbook . ( i started collecting things a while ago and squirreld them away so she has plenty of soap, toothpaste, shampoo etc)
its so exciting for them but i will miss her so much .
nlj hope the move goes smoothly x

Hi all.
Hoppy Birdday Tired mum
nlj hoping the placement turns out to be just what your DS wants and likes.:o
I don't much care for this heat - had to close the lounge curtains because I couldn't handle the sun streaming in. However, I have my 3rd WM load of the day going - the first lot (bedlinen) is already dry and in the airing cupboard!:D
Mr LW found he'd a puncture in a front tyre, so that was £130 we could have done without spending - I'll have to work out how to economise somewhere, to cover it.:(
I fear I'm not doing too well today; apart from wilting in the heat, I feel like I have a cold coming, and I'm so desperately tired. I suppose it's to be expected - fallout after the worry of having Mr LW so poorly last week. I'm not good around illness at the best of times; and without going into gory detail (well it is lunchtime!) he really had me scared.
My hair desperately needs colouring, too - I currently resemble a red-and-silver badger;:D but I'm reluctant to do it with the doggies here, as the stuff stinks the bungalow out.:eek:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Afternoon All
Tru - you go girl! About time you treated yourself.
FB - Enjoy your break from work, I'm sure you will find plenty to do.
LW - Gentle Hugs, look after yourself.
nlj - Take care of your boy and yourself and then worry about the ex.
Didn't finish work till 11 last night and then waited up for DD as she had said she wanted a lift home from the last train. I waited and waited, tried to call and eventually she turned up in a taxi. Her phone had died and couldn't find a payphone. I was sick with worry by then as there was no way of contacting her. Couldn't even go to a station as there are 2 to choose from and didn't know which one she would go to. Anyway, she knows how worried I was and has apologised a hundred times!
Had to take her to the station this morning as her car is still in Glasgow and she is working. Went to L!dl and they had a sale on. Got packs of 3 decent quality trainer socks for £1, a gillet each for me and DD for £1, a cardy for £1 and various food items all reduced to pennies along with face wash for 50p. Feel very pleased with myself but wasn't going to spend much!
Painter here preparing the woodwork outside - in between showers - so that's under way at last. Washing ready to go out when this shower stops as it is quite breezy and very warm. Dusted and hoovered round and just having lunch (ham salad). Risotto for tea and then work again at 6.
Enjoy your weekends. Take care. XX0
