just wondering, i'm sure i'v got this wrong?

But were due to go abroad soon and i'm going to take my halifax card abroad with me as a back up,

obviously whatever is spent on the card will be paid in full when we return!

say i spend £300, with the "Load" fee of 2.95% would this cost me £8.85?

we are going to be taking a travel card with us and my OH has a Aqua card with free use abroad.

    Thanks in advance

You could always get yourself a Post Office credit card. No foreign transaction fee payable, a good up to date exchange rate, 90 days free purchase protection insurance, no cash advance fee on foreign currency withdrawal from your card at a PO branch, no interest payable either providing it's paid back in full by the due date.

prob the travelex cash passport or the fairfx card... not really looked into that yet!! we have a nationwide card that used to be free but they have started charging now from what i gather..

Neither are the best choice in Prepaid cards.

The best are Cash Passport Globe(for all round usage) or the Kalixa card(for larger ATM withdrawals).

The Globe card has to be ordered online, though you can arrange pickup just four hours later, along with a free extra card.

    Better still:

If close to London, the replacement for your Nationwide debit is the Metro Bank Debit. You can pop in to a branch and take one away with you. It's as simple as that.

    Otherwise Norwich & Peterborough Gold.
