just wondering, i'm sure i'v got this wrong?
But were due to go abroad soon and i'm going to take my halifax card abroad with me as a back up,
obviously whatever is spent on the card will be paid in full when we return!
say i spend £300, with the "Load" fee of 2.95% would this cost me £8.85?
we are going to be taking a travel card with us and my OH has a Aqua card with free use abroad.
Thanks in advance

If that's the fee %ge your maths is right.
Ask them for a Clarity card and, if accepted, they won't charge the fee.0 -
i spoke to them the other evening, i cant have 2 halifax cards and they wont "upgrade" my account for at least another 6 months (had acc 6 months)
its not the end of the world but i'd like to be safe in the knowledge that if i have to use it for whatever reason, i'm not going to be paying through the nosefor it!
Thanks for the reply

Remember to tell both Halifax and Aqua that you're going abroad, nothing is worse then cancelled cards.0

I think you've been lucky enough not to deal with HSBC's fraud systems, I've had 3 cards cancelled within the last year due to "suspicious transactions". Each time I called them within 30 minutes of the transaction being declined and each time they said they already cancelled the card.0 -

Depends where you're going. Nationwide doesn't charge within the EEC but does outside of there. The details are on the back of statements and I think there is also a web address you can check to see what countries are included.
I'm going away soon and have just got an Aqua card, partly for the 3% cashback and partly because there are no fees on overseas purchases. It used to be the case that the conversion rate on credit cards was more favourable than you could get when exchanging cash for foreign currency. If that's still the case then it makes sense to use the card instead of cash where possible.3 stone down, 3 more to go0
