LHA question

I'm currently on LHA and will be moving house on Wednesday. Ill be alerting the council as soon as the agreements have been signed on Tuesday.
My questions are:
1: Can I get paid pcm rather than 4 weekly?
2: If yes, does it cause any delay in getting it processed?
3: If you get paid pcm, does that mean you have to receive LHA at the end of each month only or can it be any time during the month like 4 weekly?
3: As im currently claiming LHA, will that shorten the time to get things sorted out (just getting it transferred from one place to another)
4: If I move in on the 22nd, will I receive any LHA within a months time of my move-in date (realistically)
My intention is to have a couple weeks emergency rent, just in case, I've found myself a nice shared accommodation and I don't want to mess anybody around.
Thank you for your time guys.

Hi
It might be better to ask your council who are paying the LHA these questions.
I have asking for years why HB/LHA can't be paid monthly, have yet to receive a sensible answer! One council told me their computer couldn't divide by twelve
I do remember reading one thing about the new Universal Credit that the Government do understand that rent and most other bills get paid monthly so UC will be paid monthly - we'll have to wait and see ...0 -

Haha, computers cant divide by 12, thats a good one. Ok, ill visit the council later on. Thanks0 -
Processing claims vary from place to place depending on backlogs, etc.
However, if after 2 weeks of submitting your full claim with all the right paperwork the council hasn't processed it, you can request an interim housing benefit payment.
It's a shame that housing benefit isn't paid monthly like salaries and causes it to go out of synch with rental payments meaning that tenants have to work much harder at budgeting.
Glad that UC is fixing the fact that benefit payments don't work like rental periods or salaries.0 -
Been to the council, everything sorted out, got needed forms, all good.
Thanks for the help0 -
My LHA gets paid fortnightly in arrears, always has done.
Recently moved and it only took about 3 weeks to sort it all out, bit of a record! Good luck with your move

Housing Benefit is paid in multiples of weeks as it is a DWP benefit and all DWP benefits are paid in multiples of weeks.0

Believe it or not, I asked if i could receive it pcm and the person at the council told me that it depends on if the contract states if the payments are made weekly or pcm. If the contract says pcm then I will get paid pcm. Whether that actually happens is another matter.
But 3 weeks!! wow, hope im as lucky as you, im just glad ive found another place, where I am now, its like a waiting game for when my door gets kicked in by a junkie while im at work.:(0 -

I think if you're in a council house yes, but if private rented no.

3: As im currently claiming LHA, will that shorten the time to get things sorted out (just getting it transferred from one place to another) If you're moving within the same council it should be shorter, if moving into another area and different council will be longer.
4: If I move in on the 22nd, will I receive any LHA within a months time of my move-in date (realistically)
See above. I've moved from one council to another and AFTER 13 WEEKS i am still waiting for my LHA/HB. Apparently some councils have a huge backlog so be prepared incase you have to find the money.
Goodluck
