Approximate Costs Please. Boiler issue

Hi all

My [Ferroli] combi boiler isn't getting hot water to the shower. It doesn't ignite when the shower is turner on, it will only work if the hot water is ignited by turning the hot water tap in the kitchen sink on, then the shower will run hot water for 5 minutes until going cold.... The hot water also runs fine in the bathroom sink, it's just the shower that's the problem.

I've been told the problem is the flow switch. Any ideas how much this will cost to get fixed please?

Thanks in advance

We had exactly the same problem earlier in the year.

We paid £140 (labour and parts) to have the flow switch replaced. That was for two call-outs - diagnosis then back to fit new part.

thanks for your quick reply, it's good to know!! other quotes will also be really helpful. i have british gas boiler cover which started only a few days ago, they told me there isn't a no claim period as an engineer checked the boiler and it passed, therefore cover was granted.....do you think they would cover the flow switch problem?
  • Called british gas, and the problem i have is not covered by my policy, typical!
  • it looks as though the problem is the diverter valve....any ideas how much this will cost?

Why on earth isn't it covered?

It's a basic part of any combi boiler!

Funnily enough, I called them again today and they're coming out to look at the problem this week. Goes to show you shouldn't give up so easily!

had they not been and stripped it down already? if they suspect a diverter valve they should have it in bits as they are expensive parts
