ICS vs Gingerbread Accounts & Sync

Have been using HTC Desire C on Ice Cream Sandwich v 4.0

Just bought Huawei G300 which is still on Gingerbread 2.2 sumink (hopefully will be updated shortly)

couple things I'm struggling with:

1/ Login to my google account with my @live.co.uk address (what I do with my PC for over 5 years, and no problems with ICS), it only allows "@googlemail.com" domain names - created a temporary one today because its basically dead without one - but it also syncs bookmarks with my PC which i would like to access - anyone know the answer or just wait for software update?

2/ Wont let me sync with my @live.co.uk account for calendar, contacts (i wont be typing all these back in and syncing them manually) - i read someone managed to achieve this by adding @live.co.uk 'Corporate' account - anyone know what corperate account settings are for hotmail/live.co.uk account?
linkadoo?

I used to run a 500 PC network and was an Exchange server/Outlook fan. However, when I moved to an Android, I made the decision to "go native" and move to Gmail. Previously, for my personal stuff, I used Nokia PC Sync and a personal version of Outlook

I had to export all my contacts and calendar and then shut down my Outlook. It was not all that painful and, unless circumstances dictate otherwise, I would move to Gmail if you intend to stick to Androids.

I know that doesn't answer you question directly, but intended to be helpful.

Not sure on #1 as I use a proper GMail account, but many people have used 'different' addresses in the past, it's not a new thing with ICS.

#2 You need to choose Exchange ActiveSync when setting up the Hotmail account, use these settings:

    Server: m.hotmail.com
    Username: you hotmail address
    Domain: Leave empty
    Enable SSL

I just took the domain name out and my email and contacts all sync - Cheers

Hasn't synced the calendar but i expect i'll sort this

EDIT: Calendar syncs perfectly I just had it switched off

In fact the syncing of the whole suite its better now than it ever was on ICS - on ICS I couldn't delete emails, this not only deletes them but its does it near instantaneously - totally fluid and very fast
