Are lumps under the skin common in cats?

When stroking our 11 week old kittens I keep on noticing little pea sized moveable lumps under their fur. They seem to have one each in slightly different places along their backs and they don't bother them at all.
What might these be? They will be at the vets on Monday for their next injections so will ask then too.

When you say along their backs whereabouts do you mean?
Have they been microchipped yet? If so, it could be those that you're feeling.0 -
They could be floating cysts, i've got one on the back of my head the size of a large marrowfat pea, ask the vet, if they are, they're harmless, but you can get them removed if you like, they get slowly bigger over time.0

Could be microchips or could be the site of their initial injections.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0

One of mine has two cysts that started like that. They eventually got huge, but she has to need important surgery before the vet will consider removing them - she's possibly having a thyroidectomy next month and she says, if she tolerates the anaesthetic well AND there's time, she'll have a dig at two heavily tartared teeth and the cysts at the same time.
In the meantime, whenever mog is at the vet for a blood test/checkup, they drain them as when they get very large, they can get uncomfortable.
My point is that, if they are cysts (which the vet can tell fairly easily), consider asking for them to be removed sooner rather than later if the vet is willing to do so.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
