Weight watchers pro points

I obviously didn't read the WW website properly - as I ordered their deluxe pack with the books, journal and calculator and thought I would have everything I needed to start- however it does not explain in any way how it works. The last time I did weight watchers it was on the old plan.

I have looked at the prices for meetings and online, and it is so much more expensive than I remember. With a young baby, I am not going to be able to go to the meetings on a regular basis and would not really use it online- just want to use my books at home!

Can anyone suggest a resource online or offline which will tell me what I need to know?

    Hi, the whole point is to stop people "doing it themselvces". people used to turn uo for meetings, get the book and disappear. Or trying to by pass the meeting. I thought the deluxe pack would have everything except the number of points you should have.

    See if you can track down a free trial of the website, or invest £5 for at least your first meeting and STAY!!! The new member time should answer your questions. Feel free to pm me and I'll try and help.

    Thank you so much for your advice. I assumed in the end that that must be way I can't even seem to find any details online as to exactly how it works.

    I last did weight watchers 5 years when I got married- done of the books I have detailed how it works- so assumed they still would detail it in the journal or something- but they have removed it.

    If I will not get everything I need in the first meeting- there is no point in me going- as I genuinely cannot afford the time outlay required to go to the meetings- I would be content to do it at home

    I don't know what you can afford, but I signed up for the three months online which was £32.85 - and although Quidco said it was £15 cashback, I actually got £30...so spent almost nothing!

    Might be worth it - although, of course, cashback is never guaranteed.

    I don't know how much the different points are, but I think they range over 4 points in one stone (eg, you start at 10 stone with, say 20 points, then as you go down to 9 stone you go down to 16 points, and each 3.5 lbs or so means dropping one point).

    Did the pack include a points calculator? You'll need that for the food.

    If you want to PM me I can tell you what my weight and points are, so that might help...if you can get several people to tell you then you can probably work out the approximate points you need, and when to drop amounts!

    You can also have - in addition to your daily points (which you can never carry over) - a weekly points amount to have at any time during the week. You don't have to eat them, and obviously if you don't you'll lose weight more quickly. But those extra points allow you to blow out every now and then on chocolate and will still keep you on the side of losing / maintaining weight.

    Again, if you can get a few people to tell you their weight and their weekly allowance, that will also give you a good idea of how many you should eat.

    26 daily points is the lowest it ever goes. 49 weekly is fixed for everyone x

    Really?? Are you sure? I'm on 26, and whilst I could get away with losing 1 stone, I really should lose 2. So how does that work?

    It also might explain why I've lost almost nothing, even though I've not done the 49!!!

  • The amount of PP you have depends on a few things such as your age, are you a nursing mother, how active you are etc. There are a few guides online to show you how to calculate your PPs per day.

    From that you get a set number of points a day you can have as your max points but you must consume a minimum of 26 PP a day.

    There is also the 49 - which is for treats on top of your daily. Some people don't use them at all (or find they also need to do exercise to compensate for eating them) others have a big blow out at the weekend on a takeaway.

    Been doing the new plan since Jan and love it.

    I had a look at doing this a while back but found it a bit too confusing. I worked out my points I would be allowed, using several online calculators, and it came up as 26 - which is the lowest you are apparently allowed. But then one of the ways the system is meant to work is that you reduce your points as you lose weight and since I have about 3 stone to lose I didn't really see how that was going to work if I was starting on the minimum!

    If you are just looking for the number of points you can have then if you google it there are various guides that explain how it's worked out - it goes off whether you're male/female, age, height, how active your lifestyle is, your weight etc.
