car warranty

No, because imo there isn't one......
Unlike manufacturer warranties, they don't actually cover anything that's likely to go wrong.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Buy a Toyota or a Honda. Put the money you would spend on the warranty into the bank, ready for the rainy day.0

Lol - The above answers arent wrong but if you do go for a warranty then warranty direct have been ok with me in the past.
One tip would be to get the quote online and then not take it.
You will get a follow up call a few days later and if you appear to be positive about the warranty but concerned on price then you can haggle them down quite a bit.
Think I knocked them down 30% on the first one and 50% on the second (but the second I stretched to 3 years.)
For me its about peace of mind and while I can afford a broken TV, or shower and use the laptop or bath for a few days, I rely too much on a fully functional car and couldnt afford a £1000+ bill if something major went.
However if your looking at a 3 year old car it may be a better economy to put the warranty towards a 1 year old car that has it included.
Kia are doing 7 year warranties on their upt to 1 year old cars.0 -
Warranties sold by car dealers are poor value IMO. They don't always offer the warranty they're supposed to. You might expect to get a Vauxhall warranty if you buy a second hand car from a Vauxhall dealer, for example, but in many cases main dealers provide poorer warranties to increase their profit margin. Most people won't bother to check the cover and won't realise they've got a warranty which is worth £££s less
Warranties purchased directly from warranty companies can be better but you need to check the terms very carefully.
Ones bought directly from the car manufacturer can be very good value or very poor value. Again - ask and check
Have a look at these threads which cover the issues to look out for:

But remember that unles the manufacturer is subsidising them, even on a good policy, the insurer has to cover the cost of claims and admin costs and profit, so ON AVERAGE you'd be better just saving the money instead; although that will be no comfort if you decide not to buy a warranty but suffer a major fault which costs ££££s to repair. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
The earth needs us for nothing.
The earth does not belong to us.
We belong to the Earth0
