Vet's Bill JSA and selling your stuff

Had you been on JSA (income based) longer you could be applying for a budgeting loan for household items, then find you didn't need as much as you thought and use the spare for the bill.

You shouldn't have to worry about taking your pet to the vets any more than you would worry about taking your child to the doctor.
Pets become as much a part of the family as any human. Personally, I think if a pet owner can't afford insurance, they can't afford the pet. It's essential.
I think that's very true, I struggled to pay my pet insurance monthly direct debit when I went off work sick onto ESA, but I daren't cancel it in case anything happened. About 6 weeks ago my dog needed an urgent op and although I had insurance it was not enough to cover the cost there was a shortfall of £1596. I have tried every animal charity and they really don't have the funds to help. I have managed to get £415 and I'm very grateful for that.0 -
Hi,
Sorry to hear you are struggling:(
You can sell anything that you own as long as your not buying an selling to make a deliberate profit.
I have sold stuff in the past to pay a vet bill.
Regarding pet insurance it is good if you have the money to pay out in one go, some vets dont accept payment direct from the insurers so you have to pay it out yourself first.
Also if you had insurance the out of the £125 bill £60 or so of that would have to be access that you would have to pay anyway.0
