I dont claim credits BUT I did see the adverts on TV telling you, that you had to renew BY 31st July or your credits would stop.

Also, its been the same every year, so its not something new.
If you have been on benefits for a whole financial year and are still on them at renewal time then actually you don't need to phone or send of the renewal form if your circumstances haven't changed, those who are in those circumstance normally have a different coloured envelope. It doesn't matter anyway the op made a mistake and has renewed now and hopefully it will be sorted soon. Good luck.
  • I rang tax credits to see how my renewal was going and if any payments were showing yet when i got through as was first told by an automated service that if I was ringing about a renewl not to ring back for 8 weeks from the day of renewing which was less than a week ago, so got through to a nice chap who didnt mind that I had pressed the wrong buttons so i could speak to a human and told me it was a good job i did as the woman i had spoken to last week hadnt put my renewal through or done anything with my claim! he said if she had it would only take a week to get sorted and he would do it there and then. Yesterday I received a provisional tax credits statement for 06/04/2011 to 05/04/2012 is this part of the process of renewing it says what I was entitled to for that year and what I received for that year which were the same so no overpayment but on the letter it also says I need to sign and send off my renewal by 31/07/12? is this what I have done by the phone call I made? a bit confused? x
