Child Tax Credit stopped because I didnt renew!

My CTC is due to go in bank tomorrow (weekly payments) Ive received a letter today dated the 9th of August to say they have stopped due to not completing the renewal. I have rang and done the renewal over the phone. Has anyone been in this situation? I just need to know how long does it usually take to get a payment as we heavily rely on CTC as my husband has had to claim ESA x

It depends, sometimes it is quick, sometimes it takes a while if checks have to be done.

Is there a reason you didn't renew on time?

It might take longer if a lot of people have left it late and are ringing up. They never seem to give a timescale!!

I dont claim credits BUT I did see the adverts on TV telling you, that you had to renew BY 31st July or your credits would stop.

Also, its been the same every year, so its not something new.

This happened to me last year, I moved address at the same time as renewal and I didn't get my renewal pack as there was a 5 day window before I got my mail redirected. Talk about unlucky. It took about 3 weeks before I started getting money again..

Im sorry I didnt realise I had asked for an opinion in my question? you do not know me or lived my life the last few months if you did or took the time to think you would realise this comment is irrelevant?

Oh no was really relying on it for tomorrow aswell and to top it off just checked my bank online and my ESA still hasnt gone in (it was due in on monday but they didnt receive his last sick note even though they received the questionaire I sent back with it in the same envelope apparently a private company opens their post! Finally managed to get another doctors note took it into the local job centre to be sent by courier and they said the money would be in the bank friday hopefully it will clear in a bit) oh well always look on the bright side! x

Forgetting to renew your tax credits when you depend on the money is like me forgetting to go to work.

sorry OP, as harsh as it sounds, but its your own fault. there have been plenty of reminders on TV over the past 4/5 months. plus every other year.
but as said above, depending on their workload, SHOULD be no longer than 3/4 weeks to be back in place. and IIRC you should get it back paid to when you done the renewal

    Your response to post #5

If you read that post properly you will see that it is indeed relevant to your situation. I don't claim benefits but have seen the advert which was on the tv for quite a while telling claimants what they need to do to continue receiving tax credits.
