Can I still cancel my T-Mobile contract?

I am pretty sure that your are mistaken (a strip is not necessarily a contact). The T-Mobile ones have a long strip on, so those cutters would cut right through the metal contacts

I've cut down sims from every network either for myself (iPad) or friends for there iDevices and never once had a problem (I use sim cutters).
The only problem I have heard of is very old sims (before 3G) some won't work in 3G handsets, but since you state you already have data on your sim plan I can't see this being an issue.
Beside, if you cut it down and it doesn't work you just pay £10 for a mirco sim.......0 -
Cutting through the contacts doesn't matter, just because they're there doesn't mean they do anything.
This Virgin SIM works fine:
You can also use the cut off bit as an adaptor to fit the micro SIM into the usual mini SIM phones. You don't even need an adaptor if you're careful anyway, just line it up and push it in, the pins keep it in place.0
