Urgent help plse for 1st class train fares to Cornwall - what am I doing wrong?

Seems a bizarre thread to me. The problem is than tickets are significantly more expensive than last year so solutions are:

Different day: Not possible
Standard class: Don't want to
Split tickets: Don't want to (Incidentally I don't see why the split suggested could not be done online which was one of the objections)

Not clear what else it is possible to suggest. Seems to me that option 3 is a sensible compromise.

Our accomodation is booked to start on the Friday so we don't want to waste a day by going on Saturday and if we went on Thursday we would have to pay for additional accommodation.

It's not that I don't want to travel standard class at all, I used to do that, until I experienced a particularly bad journey, as explained in an earlier post.

As for split tickets, someone on here is kindly helping me with that as it seems to be my only option.

Thanks to a poster on here, I managed to split the tickets after all, it wasn't as difficult as I'd thought.
