Loan PPI - RBS

I genuinely didn't know that I had PPI until I wrote off to RBS asking for my loan account numbers so I have used that as a reason for being mis-sold i.e. I didn't know I had it, it was just added on.
I have also stated that I have generous SSP, redundancy and death in harness cover from my employer, with whom I have worked for 27 years.
I complained to about it being single premium PPI and have pointed out that the loan has been consolidated a further 5 times, from £7000 to £25000 since the year 2000.
I hope these reasons will be enough for my complaint to be upheld and that they won't take too long to get back to me. Any award, no matter the amount, will make such a difference to me.
Thanks for the support so far.

Hello,I have been dealing with these since the middle of May.After sending us all the info (using SAR)on a joint loan we had, but only gave hubby the front-loaded ppi said there was'nt ppi on the loan.I sent the loan agreement with the questionaire and later posted a statement all recorded delivery to prove what we had paid.Hubby rang for an update (after nearly five months waiting)and was told to ring back in 8-10 days as they where "re-investigating".We used the same reason as you front-loaded which it clearly was although some are not being upheld with this reason :/i'll keep you posted on the outcome ;)Stick at it, and don't be fobbed off by them, good luckDebt free forever :-)0 -

Do you mean that you have been dealing with RBS? Why have they taken 5 months to reply? I thought they were obligated to respond within 8 weeks or else you can go to FOS.
It was RBS who told me that I had PPI, so surely they wouldn't then say there wasn't any. Is that what you are saying they have done to you?

Barely three months in reality then?muneemaker wrote: »Hello,I have been dealing with these since the middle of May..... (after nearly five months waiting)0 -
If the Bank fails to reply within the eight week period, the complainant is indeed allowed to refer the complaint to FOS. However, exaggerating the time period from three to five months makes me suspect the Bank have been in touch during that period asking for more time to consider.kittycat65 wrote: »Why have they taken 5 months to reply? A FOS referral can take over a year...0 -

Well spotted. I must admit to being a bit confused by the post from muneemaker!

I have noticed that there are quite a lot of people posting that they have had their claims rejected, even for single premium PPI despite not needing the cover, and other such reasons.
I was under the impression that if you had "good" reasons these were enough to have the complaints upheld. What constitutes good reasons then?
I was feeleing quite optimistic about my claim, but feeling quite disheartened now.

Single Premium is the most upheld complaint reason at FOS. However, it's not a foregone conclusion that you will be successful at stage one with the Bankkittycat65 wrote: »I was under the impression that if you had "good" reasons these were enough to have the complaints upheld. Update - I sent off claim form last Monday to RBS. I phoned them today to ask if they had received it. Chap told me they have been investigating 6 loans and a credit card since July! (strange since I only sent off last week!) I wonder if they have been investigating after I asked them to supply me with the loan account numbers and asked if I had PPI??
Anyway, he went on to say that they sent me offer letters out on the current loan and the one before on 22 August and the others are still being investigated!! :j I asked if he could discuss amounts and he said "in total for all 6, £1,800" and said the letter would explain everything.
So, does this sound right? I am puzzled though as he said 4 are still being investigated and then said the £1,800 represents an offer for all 6. Also, why would they off on the latest loan first given that the PPI premium was on the first loan of £7000? The first loan has been consolidated a further 5 times into the current one. The letters haven't arrived yet either.
Can any kind person shed any light?
Thanks.
