I think my dog is love sick

Do you honestly think they would have escaped if they were neutered? How would you have felt if one had got knocked down by a car, or if you hadn't see them go past the window and one got lost? You have another thread where you are concerned about your dogs barking at other dogs and walking on the leash, it's quite possible this is also related to them not being neutered. What your other dogs didn't do doesn't prove these two won't hurt one another nor that they won't hurt you. Just because they cannot get at a b1tch in heat or another entire male doesn't mean they can't smell them and it can't drive them wild. If one of your dogs attacks a human or another dog you may not get the chance to neuter it, the decision may be made for you by the police to PTS.
Yes I do believe they would have escaped if they were neutered. Poppy has been around them since she was 8 weeks old, she is like part of the family now so they obviously do miss her when I take her home. They would have tried to escape if I had one out for a walk without the other.
My other two male Yorkies were not neutered and did not bark at other dogs while out for walks. These two have came as a 'pack' so they look out for each other. They were barking at dogs, people and even blowing leaves when they were 12 weeks old however they have settled down a lot when out for walks and now know how to react around dogs and people.
I have not posted here to be lectured about neutering and just because I am not getting my dogs neutered does not make me an irresponsible owner. Dogs will bite whether they are neutered or not, it is down to how they are brought up.
My dogs know how to act around dogs and people that come to our house or out in the street but they still bark when dogs or people pass our garden - they are simply guarding their own territory.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -
Nobody used the word irresponsible except you!! If you don't want to talk about neutering, don't post on behavioural issues where your dogs not being neutered is highly relevant. Bury your head in the sand all you like, any decent animal behaviourist will say the same as I do about neutered and entire dogs.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

How is neutering going to stop them escaping when they see their best friend walk past the garden or if one was out for a walk without the other? It's all down to behaviour which can be taught without neutering. The fence is heightned so I won't have that problem now.
I know all about the pro's and con's of neutering. I have chose not to get my two neutered and that is my decision. I didn't say anyone used the word 'irresponsible'. You are all for neutering, I have simply decided not to neuter them but it does not mean I am against it. As said, I may change that decision if their behaviour changes. I did not have my other two Yorkies neutered and never had a problem with them, they both lived a long happy healthy life. My King Charles b1tch was spayed but only because she moved in with me and I couldn't have a b1tch in season around my two dogs.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -

Actually, many behaviourists may be wary to recommend neutering if the barking was possibly related to fear or nervousness issues. Testosterone can have positive as well as negative effects on the body, neutering can achieve the opposite at times and make a nervous dog worse so I would not recommend neutering as a blanket solution for all behavioural problems, but doing research and consulting with a good behaviourist to determine whether it may benefit the dog(s) or not first.0 -
Well I have been to see Poppy and her owner today and she doesn't appear to be coming into heat as there are no obvious signs - no swelling or licking. However, Poppy's mother who lives over the road to us is actually in season again and from the squealing I heard from their back garden last week it seems likely they are breeding her again.
They said they were not breeding her again as her first litter (in Feb) was 'accidental' but I had a feeling she would get caught again since they also own the male dog and have not planned on getting either neutered or spayed. This will explain my dogs being a bit funny the past few days.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0
