Final Value Fee Credit Refusal Due to Stating Transaction Completed

I have an idiotic buyer who purchased an item from me, then emailed me to say they did it by mistake.

I therefore raised a dispute and requested a final value fee credit - and the stupid buyer has confirmed the transaction.

eBay say I am now ineligible for a final value fee credit.

This is utter b$ll$x......

Ive told them I will close my account and remove my card from their records if they proceed to charge me for fraudelent transactions. They can see the buyer has zero feedback (well - -1 now as I have left negative feedback).

Does anyone know of a contact number for eBay

This is completely rediculous

You opened a mutual dispute by the sound of it - that was a bad idea and now that buyer has c*cked it up there's no going back :(

I've had that happen to me too it really sucks! With new ebayers the only way to be sure is to give them a strike, if they like it or not. That way you are sure to get your FVF back.

Ive left them negative feedback - so they are sitting on -1. The dispute I raised was that the buyer had bought the item by mistake - thats nothing i can do anything about!

eBay are well out of order trying to charge for items that have not sold. They only need to look in the emails and feedback to see its genuine! They are definatelt trying to pull a fast one!

The trouble is, there are two ways of doing an unpaid item dispute.

1 - Buyer has not paid. If they continue to refuse to pay, they will get a strike. (Too many strikes and they get kicked off)
2 - Buyer and seller have agreed not to complete the transaction. (Mutual) On the face of it, this looks like the sensible option in your case - but if the buyer doesn't cooperate, and instead, says that they don't agree to cancel, YOU lose your fees, and HE gets off scot free.

You only get one shot at a dispute.

This is unfortunately why mutual agreements are only rarely the best way to proceed.

eBay must make a KILLING on these mistakes, I think it is set up and ebay know it so that money finds its way into their own pocket.

Have you also noticed the number of times a buyer will purchase an item twice of the same thing by a so called mistake?.....This generates double FVF's and its really awkward for a seller to deal with and get one set of FVF back. Ebay will make hundreds of thousands a month from this so called set up, trust me.

So the buyer says its a mistake and does not want it so then you file a mutual. The buyer says they then want it!....I know how you feel, i've had it happen to me

the thing is though - even though in the dispute they have said they want it - they dont!

Threatened them with legal action - but doubt it will come to any good!

The one thing I do know is that eBay will not get the money off me and will have to take me to court for 6.61. I will block any future ebay fees on my card out of principle, and close my account.

Will have to start with zero feedback again - but rather that out of principle!

Well you won't need to close your account as eBay will do that for you. They won't let you sign up again with other IDs until the fees are paid, in effect they will ban you for life. Is that worth it for the sake of £6.61 or do you just accept that you made a mistake and pay the fees then carry on trading a wiser person. I know which i'd choose as I can't afford to be without ebay.

I can understand that you are frustrated but is it really worth it over £6.61? Personally if it was me I'd just pay it and move on.
