How do I find out who has made a payment into my BankAccount
How can I find out from my Bank who has made a payment intomy account ?
I do not wish to incur any charge for this and do I need tokeep it and not spend it
in case its not mine.
Will I have to repay it at some time in the future ?
Can I force the bank to find out more details of thetransaction as I may need
to obtain a 'tax' certificate.
Also what if its a way of money laundering from'Joe Bloggs'??
My TIA for any suggestions.

Phone the bank as soon as possible. Until you are 100% sure that it's rightly yours - AND the cheque is cleared by the payer's bank - don't spend it. If you have online banking it might not show up fully until it's been cleared.
Best wishes.0 -
Let's start at the beginning - what exactly is the description on your statement?0

I phoned the bank in March and the said that they could only give me details that already appeared on my statement.
On my statement it says - " ISM client distribution and the amount. " I do not know who ISM is/are.
It seems odd to me that the bank cannot/willnot give me any help to find out who this is. Until I can solve this I will have to keep it separate from my other finances in case I need to give it to the rightful owner or spend it if its mine !!0 -

How much are we talking about?
ISM client distribution seems to be a Capital raising firm - their website has an address, a telephone number and photos of all the senior management team including e-mail addresses.
If it is a size-able amount contact them.
The bank will only have the details such as sort code and account number of the sender.0 -

I'd contact them and ask if they've lost any money..... and would they like 80%

Write - explain that the company's bank has credited your bank account with Xbank with an amount of £y on (date) but that you have no connection with the company - you would be grateful for clarification.0
