The Good News definitely outweighs the Bad (no pun intended!)
Good to hear that you've got a bit of a breathing space before you have to move. Think that counts as another bit of Good News, doesn't it? As does Dragon's offer of a futon!0 -
Hi *Robin*

Hello Diary and MSE friends
A slow start today - woke up freezing, as I fell asleep while Clever Dog was in the garden, so the French windows were wide open all night.Good job I'd turned off the CH before going to bed!

It is definitely motivational, wanting to have some progress to report here every day. But am cross with myself for putting on weight - need more self-discipline there!Greyfox wrote:The Good News definitely outweighs the Bad (no pun intended!)

As puns go, that one was rather good - thanks for giving me a chuckle, Greyfox.
Yes another week in this house could help a lot, and DS has finally turned up to help move stuff around; some into storage, and we might as well start packing the van with things I know won't be needed until I get to the cottage. Yes it will impact fuel consumption a little bit as I drive around before leaving, but I think that's a better option than me using too much energy lugging boxes about just before setting off.
Dragon's offer is amazingly kind, a very reassuring safety net in case I get really stuck. I had a close look at her avatar of her dog [with a magnifying glass]; it's possible we may have met in RL while dog-walking as daft dogs and I go to several places near Cambridge for longer treks. But I only recollect meeting two terriers that look similar to Dragon's furbaby - one was terrified of Clever Dog's friendly advances, the other one tried to dissect her jugularand ended up with a mouth full of fluff as she was too quick for him! ..The odds are that neither of those dogs belong to Dragon of course, but it's a point we'd have to consider. Anyway, hopefully an extra week here will put me far enough ahead with my To Do lists that I can just go straight to the cottage.
do you live near Kew?
(Sorry NewLeaf I missed this before) ..I wish! One of my aunts had a gorgeous place backing right onto The Gardens, but it was sold after she passed away. No, DH's flat - mine now I suppose - is in Camden, very close to Lincoln's Inn. It's rented out on an AST; the tenant seems happy to continue once the fixed term ends. When I've sent out all the GoPs and changed the paperwork, this rent will hopefully up my income significantly.
Hello Listerbelle, Thanks for your support; it means a lot.0 -

Hello Diary; welcome to the Night Shift.
Am indulging in a little displacement activity; ought to be writing to my solicitor, or if I were sensible would be tucked up in bed. The mind is buzzing; the body is exhausted after a day spent tidying up, sorting out, putting away, cooking and keeping my temper.
Managed to use up some store-cupboard ingredients and produced a jolly fine dinner, if I say so myself. A box of HM bakewell tarts awaits DS's next visit - I ate three [one to try and two as a reward for surviving the day] but promise not to touch any more.

Hello Dragon, Ddraig Blowog sounds charming - definitely not one of the terriers that daft dogs and I have come across. The odds against having met Dr Dragon and DB are very long really; there are so many lovely walks to choose from.I've been trying to work out what kind of terrier DB is (even using magnifier and glasses I can't see his 'photo very clearly)?

Sorry to see you can't sleep. Must be something in the air at the moment. I keep waking up in the middle of the night, well 4 or 5am and then not be able to get back to sleep again. Very very tiring
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Hi:j, Robin
Have read your diary, I'm so sorry for your loss. I have two boys with Aspergers, (15 and 6) and all three boys have ADHD. It can be very difficult for hospitals etc to understand how, 'situations and procedures', feel to Aspie's.
I just wanted to ask if you have applied for Disability Living Allowance, it's not means tested and you can claim this whilst still working or not. There are three different levels of disability. I mention this because, I have MS, arthritis and fibromyalgia and find it difficult to drive, (can't use left hand, sometimes) and can't walk far. It helps getting about when I can't drive, pays for (more expensive), pre cut vegetables, easier to make meals etc. It's actually provided to assist disabled people in their lives by taking into account the extra costs of living with disability.
Sorry, if I've missed some where that you have applied for this, but I'm sure your doctor or consultant can reinforce the need to your application. ME, like MS is a very difficult condition but DLA does take this into account. I hope this helps you and I hope you don't mind me mentioning it.:)Mortgage: Aug 12 £114,984.74 - Jun 14 £94000.00 = Total Payments £20984.74

Good Evening Diary,
Something of a topsy-turvey day today, <sigh> as usual after using too much energy and then having insomnia (so tired that sleep is impossible - mad, but not unusual for ME peeps)..
Still, I got the solicitor's letter written and delivered, and made it to both appointments on time. So can count the day a reasonable success work-wise despite having to give in and take my strong meds when the inevitable migraine started.
Daft Dogs woke me up at dusk wanting an excursion, so we went for a short trot round the local woods as it was beginning to rain.
Clever Dog is obviously fed up with the economy A!di biscuits; she must have fancied a take-out tonight..
Those who are fond of leporidae should perhaps not read the next bit
Clever Dog vanished into the undergrowth; there was a brief squeak, and she reappeared with her victim drooping limp in her mouth. She dropped it at her companion's feet, much to Old Dog's delight. Clever Dog dodged away from my grasp and dove into a patch of tangled nettles. I'm sporting welts on face and hands from trying to grab her. Less than thirty seconds later there was another squeak, crunch - Clever Dog was so pleased with herself she was grinning as she briefly dropped her prize.. Enough high quality meat to last them both four days - she's got the MSE habit all right - but we finished the walk in frosty silence; she knows following the scent is ok but she's not supposed to help herself.
We had to sneak through the cemetory as I didn't want to upset the under-tens who were playing football next to the path. They'd abandoned their game to cuddle Daft Dogs when we'd passed earlier; seeing the dogs returning both proudly carrying a rabbit would have stopped play, probably traumatised the little darlings and made me rather unpopular with their parents - some of them our neighbours.
Dear bunny afficionados, it's safe to read on from here.
This evening I've been looking at bank accounts, with frequent reference to Martin's articles. Phew. Can't decide whether I need an account easy to use by internet, one that pays interest, or has added benefits. DH would be able to evaluate them all logically and choose the best option without any fuss, but I'm floundering..
Have given up for tonight - wish we had had time to sort all this out before DH was obliged to leave the world. I reassured him I'd be ok when he voiced his worries during the last weeks, but Lord I'm missing him now.
Thank you to Chev, Dragon, and Exarmydreamer for dropping by - will respond to your comments tomorrow; think it's time to try and persuade the ol' bod that more sleep is a good idea.0
