please can I get back to you when I'm in a position to research further? :)

Of course you can - the offer isn't time-limited!

Hope your op & house move go well. I assume you can't postpone the op until after you move? (Though I have a feeling you may be changing countries.)

    Take care

    Hello Diary,

Am not sure I was on the right track with my activity today: After wrestling spare duvets, covers, blankets and towels into the new huge vacuum bags, Mr Dyson did his thing.. Now I have empty wardrobes - and an enormous pile of storage bags in the middle of the master bedroom floor.
DS is not ready [STRIKE]to collect[/STRIKE] to have his stuff delivered - that's Pile Number Two.

I've moved it all twice to get the hoovering done, and the result is; a mess. :(
Decided to do something different, so shut the doors on those two rooms.

Then I followed up an earlier bank call that for some reason, had set off a little alarm bell: Sure enough, the CC I'd reduced a month ago - leaving the outstanding balance on 0% - had metamorphosed; the new APR is 25.9%

Well that seemed a good use for the Bereavement Benefit, so over it went. The balance on the card was immediately transferred onto a guaranteed 0% deal until January 2014.

Phew. So now I've got two credit cards on zero, most of the debt on 0% as above, with the rest on 0% until April 2013.

Am getting so cross with that bank - found my notes from the interview I told you about in post#23, where I'd written that this CC is on 0% for another nine months - after the manager looked it up for me.

Thank you. :) I'll find out how urgent the op is next week. Err, but that appointment is after I'm supposed to have moved.

Changing country is the idea - at least for a while - but I'm not ready; still waiting for the Grant of Probate and a few other essential documents to arrive. And now the medical problem - I was hoping for some physio exercises and maybe a brace or support to relieve the pressure.

I really do not have an answer to the conundrum of where daft dogs and I will lay our heads after 30th September.

    Good Morning Diary,

Just popping in briefly this morning as I'm supposed to be preparing for a rather important interview. This is my 'calm before the storm' moment. ;)

Will be back later to tell you how it went..

Well it looks as if that particular poster is starting to see a glimmer of light - I do hope she now manages to walk towards it!

My appointment has been postponed for a couple of hours so am still on tenterhooks about that, but meanwhile the postman brought a large envelope which is a huge step forward - DH's Grant of Probate has arrived! :j ..So now to start handing round the certificates and unlocking his bank accounts. Hip hooray - this is one of the things I've been waiting for! :D

No progress on finding alternative accommodation after the end of the month though - am beginning to wonder if daft dogs and I will end up sleeping in the van; visiting friends who'll let me use their shower etc. :o

ETA: Hello Newleaf; cross-posted there. I hope you're feeling a bit better today - will 'visit' you later with a couple of ideas. :)

Hello Diary and MSE friends,

Listerbelle thanks for passing by. :) Have you got a diary?

You'll never guess what's turned up now: The solicitor gave me a pile of paperwork from my late father's estate when I dropped in the Grant of Probate for DH.
Including a folder full of old, un-cashed dividend cheques  they add up to over £1K but some date back as far as fifteen years. :o
Not the best timing.. Though it could be another project for long winter evenings; finding out who owns these companies now and whether they'll reissue the cheques. Think I'm going to have to apply for more Letters of Administration certificates for Dad to sort that out. <sigh>

That's an amazingly kind offer, Dragon; thank you. :smileyhea I'm not too far from Cambridge - wonder if we've ever met while out dog-walking?

Actually, I've negotiated a few more days here as the tenant is willing to wait until her husband joins her before moving in - but I might get back to you if I can't sort myself out by then! ;)

Hmm, better get on with it; I've got a few more GoPs to take round - a visit to the untrustworthy bank included - and some to send by post to more distant recipients, all requiring a covering letter.

    Hello Diary, :)

I nearly had a very spendy day yesterday: Went to MrT as I had some vouchers that were expiring; used them up on spare printer inks, a much needed memory stick, and four big pots of marmite - all to take to the cottage. Bread, milk, whoopsied veg and flowers put another £10 on the bill, and I asked for £50 cash-back to pay the handy-man who's coming to sort out a couple of niggles on the house.
It was very busy at the till; both the girl and I failed to notice she hadn't given me the cash.

Remembered as soon as I put my key in the door at home, of course.
Couldn't get any sense when trying to 'phone so drove back to the shop. At first they said I'd have to wait until the tills were balanced the next day, so I got a bit jumpy - especially when the chap disappeared with my till receipt - but eventually said chap produced the cash, plus a money-off voucher to make up for the hassle.
I decided to use this bonus by 'treating' myself to an instant dinner - not a product I usually buy - as I would be too tired to cook, by the time I got back home again. It wasn't at all bad, although probably not free range chicken, and the sauce was too salty for my taste. If I'd been feeling fitter, I could have prepared the same dish cheaper and better, so don't think I'm in danger of getting addicted to ready-meals. :D

I've also been looking at other banks, as I think it's time to move away from the one that's made so many mistakes with my accounts recently. Am not sure I fit the picture of a typical desirable client though, as my income is so uncertain.

ETA: Actually I made a mistake dealing with that bank too, but it has resulted in paying off the loan I had with them; so now my debts are less than half what they were when I started this diary (and all on 0% deals). But I'm going to have to be very careful with spends from now on as my 'cushion' has been used up.

Good news: Monthly repayments reduced by £297 - must keep telling myself that every time I break into a sweat remembering the new balance on my current a/c.

Bad news: The new balance on my current a/c. Frightening when considering the doctor & dentist bills due out next week, oh and the CT (now reduced to a still eye-watering £155 - but it should be the last payment before I'm out of here).

Good news: Doctor's bill and half Dentist's will be repaid to me (eventually).

Good news: (Need to keep repeating this one) Today my debt is half what it was a week ago. :D

Good news: When I started this diary daft dogs and I had no income at all. Now we do; a princely £310p.m. guaranteed (don't get me wrong, am very grateful as it covers all the DDs and SOs).

Bad news: An extra 2kg appeared on the scales today. :o

So-so: Am definitely smoking much less than I was.

Still to do: Metamorphose into the landlord every tenant dreams of. In the hope that the tenants' rent will keep daft dogs in the style they'd like to become accustomed to.

So that's Good News x 4, Bad News x 2, and a couple in between.
    ..Sounds like bed-time.
