Mara thanks very much for providing a :rotfl:
First thought was: Which one - "An old-fashioned hero"*?
    Second thought: Christmas what year?
    (* Working title only).

..Not possible until I've had the opportunity to rummage through the stuff in storage at homehome, the prospect of which is receding as more medical matters become apparent.
Daft Dogs aren't insured, so CD has to be treated here (not affordable in the UK).
Feel the same way about myself, tbh.

Following last night's appointment at the x-ray shop, I now have a beautiful set of fourteen grainy 'photos which hopefully El Medico can make sense of. The report that accompanies them has thrown up a conundrum; another [so far asymptomatic] hepatic problem. :o

But the technician didn't do the scan which I'm most interested in seeing. While accepting his £80 fee, he explained that there is a specialist clinic/shop for that department.

Oh well; suppose it was far too optimistic to hope for a definitive diagnosis in just a couple of days. Will see what El Medico says this evening, and meanwhile have started taking the drugs he prescribed to try and increase my blood pressure.

Was so flat last night I couldn't have cooked or walked Daft Dogs. Divos Three and Four kindly performed those tasks; respectively leaving a helluva mess in the kitchen, and taking the girls for such a long hike that FD returned in distress; didn't stop panting for hours. :(
We were really worried about her, had her lying under the fan wrapped in cool wet towels and gave her rehydration salts (which she didn't enjoy).

DS4 was absolutely mortified. He stayed by her side wetting her head and lips with a sponge, until we were certain FD had recovered; he has learned his lesson.
I've ordered some special coats for Daft Dogs to hopefully help them tolerate the heat, which will get worse before it gets better (MSE; half price with survey tokens ;)).

When I get my bum in gear and get the salmon cooked, I will let you know how it turns out :)

    Thank you! :)

Oh shucks Robin, sorry to hear that you have been so well., Could it be that you are not eating enough salt? Ie because the weather is so hot and you are sweating it out faster than normal? Sorry I don't really know what I am talking about, but I know when it is hot here, I let the boys eat more crisps than normal as I don't cook with salt normally.

Really hope they get to the bottom of it for you. It sounds very frightening.

GRrr to Black horse , what a pain. Especially trying to deal with it whilst unwell.

Hope it all comes right for you soon

Hello Diary and Dear Friends, :hello:

Thanks for popping in, Granny, Fudgie, Chev, and HAW. :)

Today my internet is so slow it's barely working; guess there's a fault in the system. Doubt it will be fixed before Monday - because of the terrible rail crash near Santiago de Compostela the whole country is in official mourning (which means pretty-much everything except emergency services is closed).
It was heartening to see local people rushing to help; within minutes of a public appeal for donors, hundreds of volunteers were queueing to give blood. Many more were allowed to assist at the scene of the wreck.

My worries seem so trivial in contrast. :o

El Medico was actually rather pleased with the scans; told me that both problems have been caught early enough to be treated, and not to worry about the prospect of surgery because the medication he has prescribed should be enough.
Such a relief; am not a good candidate for going under the knife - the thought had been upsetting me. The main issue has been going on for a couple of years now, slowly getting worse but three visits to the GP just resulted in a note put on my file.
El Medico frowned to hear that. He has added another drug to the cocktail, advised one or two dietary changes, told me to return next month for a revision, and shook my hand.
On the way out the receptionist waved away my payment; no charge this time - what a nice surprise. :)

Decided to spend my unexpected bonus on buying a tree to replace one that PC planted, which has inexplicably given up the ghost - despite being treated exactly the same as it's five healthy fellows. The pattern is ruined if I don't replace it and with trees, the sooner they're planted the taller I can hope to see them grow. :)
Other 'excuses' for not leaving the notes in my wallet: The garden centre is on the way home, and Gardener will be here this evening (needs something to do because the strimmer blew up during her last visit, and I can't borrow another until next week :o).

I was the only customer - just got in before the Prime Minister's announcement ( :( ). Both owners rushed to my side, obviously pretty desperate to make a sale. First I was shown a huge monkey-puzzle tree; special offer, only 150€.
Luckily there was no way it would have fitted in the van, and they were quickly disabused of the notion that a rich new client might be about to spend a fortune at their establishment.
But they tried. I was led back and forth along the rows of trees, while Father extolled the qualities of each variety; growth, flower, fruit and foliage..
Even after I'd spotted the one I wanted, we had to continue on our tour of the whole place.
..Eventually bought three trees, stakes and some compost, only slightly exceeding El Medico's fee (- hope it was enough to feed Father's family until Monday! :o).
One tree I just liked the look of, didn't recognise it - similar to a little rhododendron - a snip at only 3€.. Since discovered that it's a 'strawberry tree'; the fruit is attractive and edible though not tasty, but - it makes excellent hooch.. :rotfl:

Filled up the van with fuel - first time that's been necessary since February, so am doing well there. :D
It wasn't quite empty, but petrol stations are few and far between here in the middle of nowhere. Also, the van needs plenty of weight to help it get up rough tracks, which are now all surfaced with a slippery layer of fine dust.
Had a tricky moment while driving home the day before.. (The memory of which surfaced at the garden centre, when we reached a display of compost in bulk; got a very good deal on three huge packs - which I'll 'store' in the van for their weight ;)).

Funnily enough, about six weeks ago I had the same thought - started buying large bags of crisps for regular munching. :)
On Doctor's orders am now consciously adding more salt to our diet, and one of the meds he's prescribed contains sodium: Ampoules of carmine liquid that am mixing with juice twice a day. If the appalling taste is anything to go by, it should be doing a power of good! :p

And they've mucked up DS3's a/c as well - have complained about both issues; they've got seven days to investigate and report back..

Lol. It is a legacy of enjoying good food but not having sufficient funds to afford restaurant prices, over many years. Gatherings are quieter than they used to be, but everyone is well-practised at working together to create an MSE feast and party. ;)

Thank you Granny and everyone. Must admit am reassured; although my suspicions have been confirmed, I also know the problem is less advanced than was worried it might be. El Medico seems confident that starting treatment now offers a much more positive prognosis. :cool2:

FD has completely recovered from her 'episode', thank goodness. Still keeping an eye on Daft Dogs because a hot breeze is blowing from Africa; in the sun the thermometer hit 51'C at midday today - have never experienced such ambient heat before (inside the Nest it's 30'C with the fan on; Daft Dogs are asleep beneath it - am beginning to understand why people install air-conditioning.. :o).

Hope you all have a good weekend - wonder what changes we'll find here on Monday? :)
