We would definitely like both please. New additions/improvements to the forum board would then be added to the guide, so it's all relevant.0

I think Jenny is asking us if there is anything that can be improved or added to the comping guide only.
I don't think we are being asked here for improvements or additions to the whole MSE comping board.
hi one-eye, doesn't say comping guide only
says..
We've updated our comping guide. Is there anything you'd like us to add or that you think could be improved please? All feedback appreciated!

might be wrong but hopefully it will help
eta.. thank you MSE Jenny you pipped meplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
Hi, i would really love to see a skip button as discussed here:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4059599 button
It wont let me me post link but the link address is as above but without the space before "button" (hope that makes sense lol)
Thanks Fire**fly for pointing me in the right direction x
I agree with the skip button - if it would be at all possible to add, it would be the single most useful addition to the forum, in my opinionI smile because I have absolutely no idea what's going on:dance:0 -
A couple of simple ones:
1) Reduce the limit of 30 seconds between posts. It's a real pain trying to post a sequence of comps and constantly hitting this limit. 20 seconds would still prevent accidental reposting and would not cause a significant increase in resource loading. (I understand this is just a single parameter in AdminCP)
2) On the main board (72) when you click on "New Thread" could the title field say E: DD/MM Win by default instead of being blank (just like "Insert Link" is already prefilled with http:// ). This would help posters, especially newbies, to format their posts correctly.

Just want to cast a vote for the skip button idea. The little red cross aspect would work well as a marker, I think
Edit: Agree with Comping Cat (next post) re moving spam button. I've done this so many times tooI am brave, I am bruised
I am who I'm meant to be
I'm not scared to be seen
I make no apology
THIS IS ME!

Any chance of moving the spam button away from the enter button. Ive lost count of the amount of times ive pressed spam in error. I think ive been able to 'un spam' each time, but do worry something is going to slip through in error!
Might be nice to put the thanks and enter buttons together (might encourage people to use both then as well!)0 -
Although like most people I steer clear of voting comps, I occationally enter them. I have seen the link to voting comps on here but I suspect that people on go on and vote for other people when they have a comp up themselves.
Is there any other way we could post a link in where everyone looks ?

One thing I was especially interested in is if you still think the best order to enter comps from the forum is to start with the oldest competition first, as suggested in tip 5.
...
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/family/Competitions-comping-win
It saysUse the page numbers to go back to the page showing the oldest (still open) competitions. This is usually page 200-ish. Work through the posts – the first time will take several hours, as there are so many comps posted.
:rotfl:
Several hours? To enter 200 pages of comps? The first time might take long enough that you never catch up because people keep posting more comps at the "new" end of the list! Seriously, I would at least edit it to say "several days".
I like the repeated mention that you need to put in the hours and enter hundreds of comps and even then luck plays a large part. I've not been here all that long and have lost track of the number of posts saying "I've entered at least twenty comps and I haven't won a thing, maybe I'm blacklisted / other people cheat / I'm really unlucky". There will always be optimists but it's definitely better that the intro tries to put the point across.
I love the idea of a pre-entered "E: DD/MM Win" subject line, and a skip button - I've no idea if they would be easy or hard to do but would certainly be convenient. I would agree with what others have said about the spam button too - I've lost count of how many times I've accidentally hit :spam: - I always retract it but I'm always slightly concerned there will be some residual :spam: label on the post
Oh and please could the Facebook winners thread be stickied? It's really well used and very valuable, thanks to all the contributors :T0 -
Again can I add my like to the spam button being moved - I always worry im going to have an angry message off someone asking why i said it was spam when i try to use the enter button !Gc -Feb £87.25/ £90
Thank you to all who post !!
Such Fun !!!:j0 -

Agree with having a default date template to complete which would prevent newbies making the error of missing it but don't see the point of putting 'win' (as opposed to buy, beg, borrow, steal?) in the title. As these are competitions it should be moot.
What would make it clearer would be to enter the promoter as well as the prize and the entry method, ie Web, FB, Tw etc so that those of us who eschew blogging/blagging sites can skip the irrelevant ones easily.
Personally I would have designed a title template something like -
E DD/MM: Prize: .... Promoter: ..... Type: ....
and make the fields required to post the message.
But that may be beyond the technical possiblilites of the site.
As far as having a board instead of a thread for discussions I agree that it would be much better.
Skip button? don't think it's something I would use though a filter to hide all the FB, Twt, Rafflecop, blog comment comps would be useful (that or a separate board/thread for those).
Filtering out comps entered? would be handy but is it possible on this site? Prizefinder has a setting which hides comps which have been visited but it may be more difficult on a message board system.
Don't think I've written this much on a message board ever before, must be a slow day!!!!:rotfl:
