Hi guys,
We've updated our comping guide. Is there anything you'd like us to add or that you think could be improved please? All feedback appreciated!
One thing I was especially interested in is if you still think the best order to enter comps from the forum is to start with the oldest competition first, as suggested in tip 5.
And is the biggest cash win still £20,000?

Thanks

Would love a return of the buttons for end-date compers. At the moment many of us rely on our own bookmarksWorse things will have happened in the world today..."The only thing that really matters, it to love and to be loved."0

Hi, One thing that apparently crops up from time to time is whether or not to have a discussion Board, as opposed to a discussion Thread.
I started a mini debate about this on the thread a couple of weeks ago, though it seems that this has been raised before, but nothing came of it.
My point is that at the moment people post questions all over the comps forum. When they're posted on the D-thread, they often go unanswered, or perhaps only get very few responses. Like with my question, I got just a handful of replies. If I'd posted on IWIWIW, I suspect it would've started a proper discussion.
The few responses were mixed. Some like it as it is, others thought it would be good to have a board. What I wondered, depending on how much work it would take to set it up, is whether we could test it and see what works best?
The disadvantages of a thread, as I see it, are:
1) A question or topic raised can quickly get lost as it is pushed back by newer posts.
2) The above point is made worse, regularly, as people post questions in the wrong place, which may attract plenty of responses, then all these get moved to the discussion thread, knocking previous posts far back.
3) I just don't think that many people look at the discussion thread, as opposed to having a board where they could skim through all the titles and read any that they are interested in.
4) A topic is so much harder to follow on a thread than on a board as one post may relate to something posted pages behind it.
The advantage of a Discussion Board, in my humbles:
1) It would be clear and obvious to all where to post questions, discussions, information and chat.
2) BGs would have less work as fewer things would need to be moved.
3) If a question wasn't responded to, it would be easy to bump it back to try again to get a response - and bumping it like this, would not be a problem, the way bumped posts sometimes are on the main board.
4) It would be so great for important and urgent information. E.g. Someone posts a comp that is expiring in a few hours. Or perhaps if the magazine sites were down. Or anything where someone needed to get a question answered quickly, or pass information on urgently.
What do people think?

A tip for those worried about identity theft... I tend to make myself a year younger when asked for a D.O.B. That way my birthday is accurate and the year can be "A typo."Worse things will have happened in the world today..."The only thing that really matters, it to love and to be loved."0

I'm a month older :-)
Plus my address has a slight typo on for spotting comping mail.0 -

[STRIKE][/STRIKE]Hi guys,

Jenny
[STRIKE]I think Jenny is asking us if there is anything that can be improved or added to the comping guide only.
I don't think we are being asked here for improvements or additions to the whole MSE comping board.[/STRIKE]0
