Quickest Way to Drive into Central London

I would use the Tube but get on in outer London where it is less busy so you can get seats. I wouldn't fuss with buses.
Parking in Whitechapel is not that easy, if coming from the East I'd be inclined to park around outer Greenwich and DLR it in. If coming from the North end, I'd suggest Wood Green, Southgate, Cockfosters - all of which have roads within 5 mins of the station which are free to park in.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0 -
there are loads of private parking spots around the area, you can also buy a days residents parking for £5 from the council office and park in any designated residents parking bays which gives you a little bit more flexibility.
but with the latter option there may be problems with getting the permit [queing up at the council office etc], phone tower hamlets council and see if you can order one in advance and get the permit mailed to you.
kids travel free up to age 16, on public transport in London, but there is a £10 a year admi fee, you should weigh up the pros and cons and see if it would be cheaper just to pay the fare. at the very least you should preorder oyster cards because oyster card fares are cheaper than printed ticket fares.0 -
Thanks for all your advice.
I think we will just park at Cockfosters and travel round on the tube.
Ive never been on a tourist bus but I thought it would save some walking for the kids but if we have a tube pass doesnt seem worth paying another £50-60 for a hop on hop off bus if tube is paid for. there will be some tired kids but thats what dads shoulders are made for!!0 -
I would hire a Ferrari and travel around 2AM, and simply floor it on every straight, ignore red lights, and treat every corner as the last.
The car parks should be nice and empty then as well.
I would take the train.
Id love to take the train but a 2 hour journey by car is £200+ on train for 2 adults and 2 kids.0 -
If you are planning to get Travelcards for your tube travel, remember that they can be used on ordinary buses as well. Thanks for all your advice.

You can see much more from the top deck of a bus than you can from a tube train.
