We always take toys away, it still works and he's nearly five now. I wouldn't send a child to their room at 2 years, they might begin to associate the room with being punished and this might then upset bedtimes.

I can't put him in his cot coz it's a cot bed and we've just taken the bars off after he climbed out of it one day instead of having his nap  but I suppose I could put him in his room - Arrgh!! wasn't thinking he'd just end up playing with his toys
it's not usually recommended to use the bed or room as a punishment space as they have access to their toys and you don't want to associate their bed/room with punishment - what about a diningroom or somewhere where you can shut the door but he can't really do anything - that way you can hold the door closed so he can't get out...

it's really hard work and you have to be consistent in your ways of disciplining him which isn't easy...

I hope you find something that works - if not does he respond better to praise ie 'stop that do this and then you'll get a sticker'... it may work better for him.

the naughty step usually works in our house, if it doest the removal of a favourate toy works.

  • jopsey steroids do make kids (and adults) grumpy and difficult to live with, even short courses turn me into a cow. my 7 year old nephew is a bit of a handful at the best of times but when he has steroids for his asthma he's evil. bless him :D
