Question Holiday in January- where would be good for toddler ?
Answer At Grandma's house whilst you have a holiday!

    (Or other suitable relative)[/

I wouldn't leave my little boy at this age with someone else, even a relative. I wouldn't be able to enjoy myself. Thanks anyway

The Canaries are your best bet in January. You'll probably find your toddler will fall asleep during the flight, it's only 4 hours, it won't be a problem.

Now, a 24 hour flight to Australia (29 hours coming back !) with a toddler was more of a challenge for us, but we still did it ! Kids are very adaptable.

What do u entertain them with. I spend an hour in church every week wrestling with him and that is a challenge

You're trying too hard ! I find kids tend to entertain themselves.

I never stressed about how i was going to keep them occupied, as long as they aren't bothering anyone else, it's fine. Toddlers are happy with some paper and pencils, maybe a couple of his favourite books, some snacks, a drink. A 4 hour flight is a doddle. What would you do with him at home for 4 hours ? He won't be stuck on your knee, you can walk up and down, make new friends !

Thanks. Maybe when he is a bit older he will sit quiet more. At the moment he is hyper, he has found his legs and vocal chords and won't sit still even though he can't walk more than a dozen steps. At home he is on the go all day. I am worrying because I know how annoying children can be to other people who dont have them. I haven't got used to that yet. I know I will become less bothered but at the moment I still get embarrassed. I will give it some thought.
I just need to find a nice resort/ hotel with good facilities for young children. Thank you

we travelled to riu clubhotel paraiso, lanzarote in march with our then 6 month old grandchild, for on the plane my daughter in law took some favourite toys to keep him occupied and her i pad with recordings of his favourite tv programmes. the hotel does have childrens entertainment, on a night before the main entertainment there was a childrens hour in the entertainment room, the children and toddlers were all having a good time.
we have stayed at a few riu hotels, their inhouse entertainment routine has been the same at all of them

Have you thought about cape verde?

Bit lower down than canaries and 24 ish all year round.

never been myself but my sis has been loads and has been early feb before and december and says weather always the same.

Dont think theres much there apart from a beach though

I have taken a small child on many flights and as long as they have something to entertain them, something to drink and eat the flights go quickly enough. I always let them have plenty of time out of the buggy etc in the airport so there were more likely to sit on the flight.

Also done lanzarote was warmish during the day but can be a cool breeze and that was April.

I would recommend the Canaries too. I reached a rather older "significant age" in January this year and we went to Lanzarote. It was fabulous - the weather was just how you would imagine an ideal English summers day. It was warm without being overbearing, a nice refreshing breeze and the nights were comfortably cool.
