Holiday in January- where would be good for toddler
I reach a significant age in January and don't want a party. I would like to go on a trip somewhere a bit warmer than shivering in the uk. I don't want to fly too far with my little boy. He hasn't been abroad before. I thought that southern Spain would be a nice temperature in January but have no idea about hotels, resorts etc so any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Where are you based, as a flight from Glasgow can take an hour longer than say a flight from Southampton. The canaries are good in winter, and they're only 3 hours or so from London. Try having a look through the First Choice winter sun brochure, available from Thomson stores, they have a few good suggestions in there.0

i have been to costa del sol in february and march. although it was quite warm in the sun there was a cool breeze out of it.
i would opt for the canaries, have been to tenerife/gran canaria and lanzarote, lanzarote has always been the windiest0 -
I am in east mids. Don't want it too hot, and don't want a long flight as he will be on my knee. Would consider Luton but gatwick is too far to travel for a week.0

Hello
Tenerife is just over 4 hours flight from Luton, and the temperature should be around early - mid 20's, it's lovely. I was there in November a few years back and it was a great way to get some sun away from the UK winter!
I did take my uggs and a hoody with me, getting off the plane on the way home to Aberdeen was a shock to the system!

I would love to go further but I can't imagine a wriggly toddler for 4 hrs on my knee. At the moment he will sit on my knee for 5 mins max. Does it get better as they get older or worse.
Thanks0 -
The Canaries are your best bet in January. You'll probably find your toddler will fall asleep during the flight, it's only 4 hours, it won't be a problem.
Now, a 24 hour flight to Australia (29 hours coming back !) with a toddler was more of a challenge for us, but we still did it ! Kids are very adaptable.0 -
Canaries is my advice, Costa Teguise on Lanzarote is very family friendly, we took our 7 month old back in the day, no problems0
