I'd love to do something like this! I'm not sure if I've got the guts haha! There are some helarious ones on you tube! Thanks so much for sharing :rotfl:0 -
Welcome
Thought it was a brilliant idea when I seen it!!
I think you should pick a song that means something to you and your OH. Whether it's a soppy love song, or a more upbeat jazzy song, it doesn't matter. I'm sure there's an 'our song' out there somewhere for youWealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
We had elton john can you feel the love as our first dance but it was the hardest decision! Nothing really jumped out. We left the string quartet to choose walking down the aisle.0

This is our first dance - Delirious Love by Neil Diamond: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDapIZPyOyc
Not my first choice admittedly - that was Smash Mouth's version of I'm A Believer - but OH really wanted it so I'm happy to have it, even if I did later find out that he wants it because it's on an episode of ScrubsI am very tempted to ask my dad if he would play it for us at the wedding as he's a really good acoustic guitarist and the guitar is going to come out at some point during the reception (it's not a party in my family until my dad gets out the guitar!).
Others that I've seen at weddings which I thought were really good:
My Baby Just Cares For Me - Nina Simone (complete with full-on dance routine - the couple in question met at dance lessons though so it seemed appropriate!)
It Must Be Love - Madness
You're The One That I Want - John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John
Brown Eyed Girl - Van Morrison
I Just Called To Say I Love You - Stevie Wonder
We haven't decided on our walking down the aisle music yet - either for when I come in or when we go out - but I do know that I want something happy and uptempo.
The one thing I will say is I absolutely agree with HeadAboveWater's advice to pick a song that means something to you. I used to work in a hotel that did loads of weddings and an awful lot of couples seemed to pick one of the same four songs which I suspect were from the DJ's 'generic first dance' list, which actually made me a bit sad. By all means have those more conventional first dance songs if they're right for you, but don't just pick something like that because you think it's what you should have. It's your wedding day after all so it should be about what's personal to you."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -

Totally.
And I agree with sweetilemon - picking the first dance was really hard as neither of us wanted a slushy uncomforable shuffle, but a lot of songs that meant something to us were a bit too ravey for a wedding. In the end we just picked an upbeat cheesy 80s song, and got dance lessons so we could pull together a few moves to it. It was great fun.
Try to find something that is right for both of you though. I've seen a couple of first dances to the likes of Adel, which have blatantly not been the choice of the hub.
As for walking down the aisl, this is a bit easier, as there are traditional ones you can go for, such as Canon in D, Arrival of The Queen of Sheba, "Here comes the bride" etc.
But you can pick something else - just bear in mind that if it's a civil ceremony, it can't be a religious song.0 -
I had trumpet tune and air for walking down the aisle and "from this moment" by Shania Twain for 1st dance plus "Amazed" by Lonestar and "Nobody Does It Better" by Carly Simon - hubby is a bond fan , I'm just a soppy so and so..................;):)0

Whilst watching the Olympics closing ceremony on Sunday night, we were reminded of the Elbow song - One Day like This, and talked about having that for our first dance. After a bit of research, there is a really nice instrumental version which I think would be great for walking down the aisle, so might suggest that to OH.
We are hoping to have Muse - Feeling Good as we are walking out of the ceremony, as we got together at a Muse concert, and love the lyrics 'it's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life for me', as we thought it was quite fitting.
Other ideas OH has had for first dance include The Courteeners - Take Over the World and The Verve - Lucky Man. Not sure about The Verve, I thought it was really sweet of him, but thought everyone might think it was my choice and it's me saying that he is a lucky man for marrying me!!MFW 2016 #32 £1574.66/£1500:j:j0 -
We found it very difficult to choose our first dance. We have many songs that mean something to us but they just didn't feel suitable for the type of first dance we wanted. We have decided to go with Bryan Adams - Heaven, although neither of us were born when it was released haha.
We are going for traditional music for walking in and out of the church.Married my wonderful husband on 8/9/12 :j0 -
We danced to adele-make u feel my love
and walked up the aisle to canon in d
left the church to take that-greatest day0
