Morning all,
Still rather in holiday mode, going out for early lunch with OH and DD4 then on to see my cousin who had a stroke last year, gather that he wasn't great while I was away, but have brought him some of his beloved TimTams so that should put a smile on his face.
One load of washing out another on, might have a look at flying now that my house is in order....still have to do some decluttering but its all out of sight.
DD2 had a nightmare journey back to London yesterday, boat was late so she missed train at Holyhead and was 3 hours later than expected home....I think that she is mad coming by boat but up to now she has found it easier to keep that girls amused as they can walk around...they are 7 and 4.
Back later

Hi everyone.
Tru (((HUGS))) Sleep well, little Daisy.
JackieO young Henry is a braver bod than I am! I always loathed dentists, and the idea of visiting one was enough to turn me into a gibbering wreck.
I've been and had my steroid injection;:eek::eek: it'll take anything up to 72 hours to kick in, and I feel quite woozy atm, but hopefully I should be much improved by the weekend - I can't wait to be able to do the household tasks properly again.:o Having my dominant arm out of commission is frustrating, to say the least!
Mr LW is still off sick, but much improved - hopefully he'll be returning to work tomorrow.
It's been quite difficult to come up with meals - he's been told to avoid any dairy while he's on the anti-flybotics, and of course we virtually live on cheese normally. I've suggested tagliatelle with tinned tomatoes and some veggie hot-dogs for tonight.;) Thankfully Thursday he can start eating whatever he wants again.:DIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Good morning Moorhen and all,
after a few restless nights i slept really well last night. Dogs got me up at 6 and i went back to bed. I'm ashamed to say i didnt wake up again till gone 10. I think i am making up for all the nights i couldnt sleep.
The sun is shining, its 23 degrees and a glorious day. Ive done the daily duties in the garden and the plants are doing well. Actually the cucumber is taking over the greenhouse this year. At this rate we will be eating cucumber for breakfast, cucumber in our lunch and cucumber with our evening meal. The tomatoes dont seem to have done so well this year.
Ive just received an online bill for my gas and electricity based on when the meter reader came to read the meter a couple of days ago. My direct debit is £104 a month and i'm suprised that i am only £95 in credit. I cant realistically lower my consumption any more so it looks like i will have to increase the direct debit at the end of the summer to save having a huge bill at the end of the winter period. This is something i really didnt want to do. With now only 3 of us in the house i wanted to spend less on utilities rather than more.
Right, i had better go and have something to eat. I havent felt like eating up until now but i'd best go and eat something or i'll regret it later.

I am so sorry about daisy and it sounds as if her feathered friends miss her too.

Hope the worries turn out unfounded or solvable.

It is nice to see you back.

You were brave to tackle the hill but now you know you can do it you will feel more confident and save on taxi fares. :T
DD left around 11.30 so I had kitchen all to myself - apart from DH wanting lunch - sorted- DH wanting a mug of tea - sorted- DH wanting heaven knows what etc.
Finally got recipe for soft hand made rolls and all set to start.
Reached for cornflour which I knew I had in cupboard and zilch! Somebody had used the last of it and not told me. Eventually substituted sauce flour (if that is not the same nobody tell me yet please). Yeast mix needs to rise for nearly three hours then I can do the next step, let it rise for 30 mins or more than shape and bake.
Having a cuppa and browsing on here enjoying the peace and quiet.
DH has scuttled into the garden out of the way not realising all I needed was a few minutes at the time he was in the kitchen and that all is calm now. Well as calm as I ever get .;)
Mince is defrosting to make burgers tonight and weather turning sunny so might try making veggie pasta rather than soup and dd can take some as a packed lunch.

Back from the hairdressers, feel much more "me" now:rotfl:
Jet77 My Dad is still here, despite only weighing 5stone 9lb! He is on oxygen 24 hours a day, but his spirit is amazing! He is still painting , reading and watching TV. He says the other residents are "Old people" (He'll be 80 this year!) Don't know how he survives, but glad he does:rotfl: I am glad I can get up to see him more often, now I've conquered my fear of the scooter running out!
Had scrambled egg and smoked salmon trimmings for lunch, very nice it was too. Trimmings are only 98p in Asda, I use them in a lot of things.I Believe in saving money!!!:T

I came across YS smoked salmon sandwich pieces reduced to 49 pence a week ago and they are freezable so slammed them away for another day after using one pack to make open sandwiches with cream cheese.
Just realised the yeast mix is going to overflow the big bowl and I still need to add the second mix later  I might have to combine them in a stockpot or something so it will fit. Have vision of Mickey Mouse cartoon as sorceror with cauldron overflowing all over the place."This site is addictive!"

Tru - Sorry to hear about Daisy, you looked after her well and did everything you could for her.
LW - Hope your injection starts to work soon.
Well, the last day of the holidays here - school starts tomorrow for staff and Friday for the children, I have to go to a new school so not looking forward to it at all.
Went for an interview this morning for a clerical post but didn't get the job, I know I can do the work but am not too good at interviews. Applied for another job so will keep on looking.
Just been for lunch with a good friend for a catch up which was lovely, going to read my book now for a while. Weather good, just going to put some washing out for an hour - it was raining this morning. The floors have been hoovered and mopped.
Take care. XX0 -
Hello all, just got in from work.....it was SO hot and airless there. Got home and threw all doors and windows open. Drive there and back was pretty horrendous, road works, broken down van on M25, got lost on the way home (go to different places each time). Anyway all done now and report will get written tomorrow morning.
HM burgers for dinner with salad and Home Grown potatoes. It's the first year I have tried growing my own potatos.....it may not save much money, but my goodness me the flavour is a revelation! Tomatoes not ripe yet, but a reasonable crop on the plants. Also grown carrots from seed for the first time, but they look a bit small, not to say microscopic from the bits that are showing above the soil. I overcrowded them.
Hugs to all who need them.'Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.' T S Eliot0 -
Tru - not had chance to catch up on all the threads I've missed and may be totally off the mark but was Daisy a chicken? Mr Fox had 2 of mine a few months back :-( so sad because they are like pets and so quirky each with their own personality.
Sorry about your two girlsWe've had one visit from a fox, about 18 months ago. It was 5am-ish and the girls were locked away so were safe. He never returned so we've been lucky.
DAISY just before her visit to the vet yesterday.Bulletproof0
